Arrow LNB Types Needed By Satellite List

There are two types of Ku band LNBFs- circular lnb's which have a low frequency of 11250 mhz, and linear lnb's, which have three different frequency ranges, universal - 9750mhz-10600mhz (European model), universal - 9750mhz- 10750 MHz, ( U.S. model’s use both and are wide band LNBFs), and standard - 10750mhz.

Here is a list of satellites and the correct lnb's to use with them:

61.5W Echo 3 - use standard circular lnb - 11250 MHz
63W Estrela - use linear lnb, either universal or standard linear- 10750 MHz
71.8W Nahuel 1- linear lnb, either universal or standard linear- 10750 MHz
77W Echo 4 - circular standard lnb - 11250 MHz
79W Amc 5 - linear lnb, either universal or standard - 10750 MHz
82W Nimiq 2 - circular standard lnb= 11250 MHz
87W Amc 3 - --- linear lnb, either universal or standard - 10750 MHz
91W Galaxy 11- linear lnb, either universal or standard- 10750 MHz
91W Nimiq1&3- circular lnb standard= 11250 MHz
93W Intelsat 6- linear lnb, either universal or standard-10750 MHz
95W Galaxy 3c- linear lnb, either universal or standard - 10750 MHz
97W Intelsat5- linear lnb, either universal or standard - 10750 MHz
101W Amc 4 - linear lnb, either universal or standard- 10750 MHz
103W Amc 1- linear lnb, either universal or standard- 10750 MHz
105W Amc 15- linear lnb, either universal or standard- 10750 MHz
107.3W Anik - linear lnb, either universal or standard- 10750 MHz
110W Echo 8 & 10,X - circular lnb standard - 11250 MHz
111W Anik f2 - linear lnb, either universal or standard - 10750 MHz
116.8W Satmex5 - linear lnb, either universal or standard - 10750 MHz
119W Echo 7 - circular lnb standard - 11250 MHz
121W Echo 9 - linear lnb, either universal or standard - 10750 MHz
123W Galaxy 10r - linear lnb, either universal or standard - 10750 MHz
127W Galaxy 13 - linear lnb, either universal or standard - 10750 MHz
129W Echo 5 - circular lnb standard - 11250 MHz
148W Echo1 & 2 - circular lnb standard - 11250 MHz

Bad info!!!
This information is wrong. You can't use universal or standard settings with the same l.o. frequency and expect it to work right!!!

S.Ross, with as many C band and KU band dishes that you have, you should know this. EB

S. Ross's info is correct, what you call the LNB is not that important as long as you don't call it OCS DP. making the setting universal merely to tell the STB to make 2 frequency available. 10750 for the high band , the one North America use, and 9750 for the low band that is also used in Europe. If the LNB is a true Universal , the band is togled high or low depending on the presence or absence of a 22 KHz tone send by the receiver. a standard linear LNB just ignore the low band and stay setted on 10750. I hope this clear some confusion up.

Tseto, Why is there universal and standard setting if they both are the same???

A lot of people have tried interchanging these settings only to wonder why things were not working correctly.
There used to be an Universal 2 setting on some fta receivers that actually had a 10750 high l.o. Now most FTA receivers only have the Universal setting which is 9750/10600. Some people could still be using an Universal 2 lnb but they would be few and far between. I do not know where you can buy an universal 2 lnb.

Quote:
The term "universal" is used to describe an LNB that has "dual band" tuning capability. It came after the "enhanced" LNB which had a slightly extended tuning range and used a 9.75GHz oscillator instead of 10.0GHz. Some people mistakenly think that "universal" refers to "universal fitting", meaning the LNB will fit any dish. There is no such LNB. It's important to choose an LNB which is suitable for your dish and matches your receiver. (All modern "digital" receivers in the UK will work with a "universal" LNB. The same is NOT true for the USA.)

A Universal LNB requires a 22kHz signal at 0.5v p-p to switch its Local Oscillator to 10.6GHz ("high band"). Otherwise it uses its 9.75GHz oscillator ("low band"). Used by ALL modern satellite receivers for Sky, Freesat, FTV and FTA viewing.

Polarisation switching is controlled by dc voltage supplied by the receiver. 12.5v to 14.5v gives vertical and 15.5 to 18v gives horizontal polarisation. A higher voltage than that may damage the LNB but most are OK up to 20v. A voltage that is too low (less than 12.5v) will prevent the LNB from working correctly.

Typical single-output "Universal" LNB 9.75 and 10.60 GHz L.O.

The (obsolete) Cambridge "Platinum"Geo Universal G57" LNB
Works in 2 bands* 10.7-11.8 and 11.6 - 12.7 GHz. (22 kHz signal switched). Noise Figure usually 1.0 dB or better. Integral feed horn with 40mm neck but C120 flange type available in some models. Spigot fitting for Sky Minidishes.
