View Full Version : DP34 with DISEQC Switch explained saajid 07-09-2007, 06:32 PM I know I posted this a while ago in this site, but unfortunately I myself cannot find it. Does the other dish have to be DP? Also the line out to the receiver... Only one receiver will work for the 4 sats, but yet you can still connect 4 receivers to the bottom 4 outputs to receive the 3 sats? 5 receivers possible with this setup? This setup looks interesting and I think with these questions answered more people will use it... Thanks, Drockstar saajid 07-10-2007, 07:56 AM I have a couple questions on that.... One Receiver will work with the Diseqc Switch, and finally you can also connect 4 other receivers from the bottom Output and all of them will work fine. But atleast, one receiver has to be a Dishnet IRD. Drockstar 07-10-2007, 08:43 AM Sounds Good!!! reywas 07-10-2007, 03:11 PM What other switch types can be used instead of the diseqc switch in this arrangement??? such as can sw-21's or 34's!<_< Reason I'm asking is I have had problems with even the heavy duty diseqc switchs not switching consistently, therefore I avoid them like the plague if other options are available! Jas saajid 07-11-2007, 04:54 PM wouldn't I still need to power the dp/34? Some of the testers giving me help made that point. Jas First try, by just connecting the Receiver to the diseqc, whichshould be connected as per the Diagram. If you still have problem, then, connect a Dishnet IRD on to the DP34 Switch, but, do not forget to leave the Power ON for the Dishnet IRD. My one worked without a Dishnet IRD. touchmymully 07-11-2007, 05:23 PM Yeah, I'm not getting any different results with the diseq switch, now it may be an aiming problem now, I haven't got up there and moved it yet today, was planning on it in a minute. one thing I'm noticing, is, that when I scan the sats, the same few channels are popping up on the first two sats scanned 119, 110(I'm assuming I'm atleast on one of em' cuz when I have moved it in the past I can't move it anywhere else and get a signal), when the third one scans 121, I get the same channels as the first two, but I get a TON of local channels from all over. so, my channel list would look like: These channels say 1-117 (with a bunch of junk nothing channels mixed in) Those channels again listing at 118-234 Those channels again listing at 235-351 followed by a ton of locals what does that sound like to you? A-Want-A-Be-Tester 07-11-2007, 05:57 PM I know that viewsats have trouble powering the 34 switch, BUT if 2 or more fta's are used, the switch that I am talking about works fine with a DN box. reywas 07-11-2007, 06:16 PM If you want to know if your switching is really good to go and your dish aiming, do the following first if you have not already done so! Bypass all the switchs and scan the sat's one at atime! (if you are not yet aimed at the sats, bypass the switchs and connect only the antenna that you are aligning directly to the receiver) Bypassing the switchs will allow you to aim dish (see good signal and Quality for the intended sat) and then scan the channels on the one sat at atime with the Switchs bypassed, (trying to scan through a diseqc switch and aiming the dish while connected through one will usually result in all kinds no go things)After you have your channels scanned on each sat, then you can reconnect all, do your antenna setting and check each sat (for quality) as you switch them and see if they get good quality and see if your switching is good through all ports! Trying to align and set up ALL through a diseqc switch is ASKING FOR all kinds of things to not act correct! Always have the receiver unplugged when connecting or disconnecting the coax to switchs, especially diseqc as they are wimpy, even the Heavy duty type can stick on one port forever! Hope this helps you or gives you a hint or two! Are you talking about the dp/34 switch? because I know that it works for the DN box (that's what it's made for right?) I'm trying to get the dg7000 to work with it. some have said it needs to be powered by a dn box (hooked up at the same time as the dg7000) because the dg7000 isn't strong enough to power it. I'm hooking it up right now the way it is in the diag above (minus additional sat) to see if this route works. I don't know why it would but hey that's why they call it testing right.....?? I plan on getting another box as soon as the funds are there, but I want to get this working so that I can help those on a budget. Gump I had tried that once going directly from reciever to lnb, it didn't work for me though. I never thought about unplugging the reciever when I removed the coax though......god, I hope I didn't mess it up by that.... I've taken it back to factory since then though, may be I should try that again. I guess it's back up to the roof............... Jas Tombstone 07-25-2007, 05:31 PM Just curious - which Diseqc switch is recommended? I've seen several posts that the cheaper ones do not work well. Which one did you use? Thanks! touchmymully 07-25-2007, 05:45 PM Just curious - which Diseqc switch is recommended? I've seen several posts that the cheaper ones do not work well. Which one did you use? Thanks! The dg7000, is only compatible with the diseqc 1.2, I've been looking all over the internet, and I haven't seen any such difference (a cheap one vs a expensive one), the ones I've looked at all have the same features and qualities. You can get them on Ebay for around $9US shipped. Jas reywas 07-25-2007, 06:20 PM Just curious - which Diseqc switch is recommended? I've seen several posts that the cheaper ones do not work well. Which one did you use? Thanks! Chieta has some advertised as heavy duty and price still reasonable! Do a search for such and review at their site! (even on the heavy duty type diseqc's always unplug ALL receivers associated with the antenna system before messing with the coax at the antenna switchs or at the receiver so as to prevent spikes and surges to the diseqc. (a diseqc failure usually results in port 1 only getting a signal, no switching to other ports if spike failure) If you start getting erratic switching look at the OTHER HARDWARE section of this site for guidance and try another COMPATABLE type switch, such as 22khz, sw-21's, multiswitchs, etc, instead! If necessary go to the OTHER HARDWARE threads and read and then ask and they can tell you what type will replace your diseqc for your intended use! Newbie Gump:blink:  Arow27 08-19-2007, 11:40 AM I know I posted this a while ago in this site, but unfortunately I myself cannot find it. What if U try using Dp44 Switch instead that whole bunch of Switches?? jedthro 10-17-2007, 01:40 PM What if U try using Dp44 Switch instead that whole bunch of Switches?? If you are referring to a DPP44, then yes, much easier but figure $100.00 for the switch. |
