Thinking of buying a Duo, and wondered if you can add a provider ID and a set of codes?
I can do it with my Viewsat, just wondered before I purchase?

Are people using these that dumb, or is this box so bullit proof you don't need them? te12345 07-05-2007, 09:23 AM Does anybody use this for FTA? I am trying to see if you can put in codes manually? Are people using these that dumb, or is this box so bullit proof you don't need them? 1) a good FTA box should not require any user to manually do jack.. this box rocks! 2) to call people "dumb" before knowing them is uneducated. You must be in the woods trying to catch a glim of modern humanity. erwinmark 07-05-2007, 09:46 AM No I am saying that people using these boxes don't care, it took 2 days for someone to respond. Other boxes like the viewsat, you hear from someone in an hour or two. I am asking can for say 95W RTN, can you add the codes to box, they are not built in? Simple question, another user told me no, but he wasn't sure how to do it, so I am asking others. The manual that is on-line is very poor, I must say. chuck 07-05-2007, 10:15 AM No I am saying that people using these boxes don't care, it took 2 days for someone to respond. Other boxes like the viewsat, you hear from someone in an hour or two. The conaxsat duo/trio's are very new and there are not a lot of people that own them since the bins are still in the beta testing process. These are fantastic receivers and although I cant answer your question right off since I have never had a need to do what you are trying to do I am sure an answer will appear here soon. The viewsats have been out for a good amount of time and are owned by many many more people which obviously is why questions about them are answered quickly. A little thinking before typing will get you more help and talking down to the conaxsat owners may very likely get you no help at all here. chuck 07-05-2007, 10:26 AM There are four preset codes and no option to add...not yet anyway erwinmark 07-05-2007, 10:33 AM Thanks Chuck, you answered my question. Can you change those 4 codes manually? Thanks again. chuck 07-05-2007, 10:41 AM I think you can change them as we do the keys but not positive...I will find out chuck 07-05-2007, 10:43 AM If the codes are like the keys I know they can be changed. I am not familiar with what you are doing so I cant give a definite answer. Are you asking if you can change the codes (keys) to those of another provider? erwinmark 07-05-2007, 10:50 AM Yes, correct. chuck 07-05-2007, 11:15 AM Here is another response to your question I got from the CNX Homesite... Your question also prompted them to look into having this option in future bins... i...ts not just as simple as adding codes for other providers..the code to decript the stream must be added as well. It will be useless to add key codes if the encription is not supported. ftakicker 07-05-2007, 06:40 PM Here is another response to your question I got from the CNX Homesite... Your question also prompted them to look into having this option in future bins... This is correct. There's no option for that provider, because CNX does not support the RTN encrytions yet. Racing channels are not one of d/n networks, right?? el bandido 07-05-2007, 06:43 PM This is correct. There's no option for that provider, because CNX does not support the RTN encrytions yet. Racing channels are not one of d/n networks, right?? You are correct. Viewsat does not support RTN either. erwinmark 07-06-2007, 12:12 PM With the Viewsat you can add the Codes to support RTN el bandido 07-06-2007, 01:38 PM With the Viewsat you can add the Codes to support RTN You aim your dish at 95, Then tell me the Viewsat will work. Just because there are places to add keys and provider ID's does not mean that the bin will support it. I hope you have success with this, then you can teach the rest of us how to do it. El erwinmark 07-06-2007, 09:10 PM On the Ultra you go into the code menu and under that Nagra section add a provider call it whatever, then add the data that Mel has provided and scan the channels. I have the channels on 12050 working, but I have poor signal on 11811 TP. MrPhil 07-13-2007, 09:05 AM I just came across this thread as a result of a PM but I have had RTN working for a while now and am happy that I finally had a chance to see what Greyhound racing is like. Man, can those dogs run. I searched for a while for the answer and posted a how-to on adding new provider IDs to the Ultra a while back, the info and credits are here: http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=90643 Now, I'm not a coder but I am... in other words I don't write A/R bins for FTA boxes but I do write a lot of firmware for embedded devices and a bit of it even involves encryption. So, I'm almost qualified to make the following statement: :D RTN uses the older Nagra 1 encryption, so the STB must support Nagra 1. If it does, then you should be able to view any provider that uses that scheme, as long as you have the correct keys for it. So, the box doesn't need to specifically support RTN per se, it just needs to support Nagra1. In the case of the Ultra, you should be able to add keys for any of the major encryption protocols that the box supports. - Phil erwinmark 07-13-2007, 02:48 PM Phil, Do you happen to have a Conaxsat Duo? I was trying to find out if you can do it on that STB, I know you can do it on the Ultra. Thanks chuck 07-13-2007, 03:07 PM The duo and trio are the same receiver. The only difference is that the trio has a usb port supporting Divx. So the answer to your question is No. The are working on adding the option in upcoming bins so give it a while and it should be there. erwinmark 07-13-2007, 07:53 PM Thanks Chuck, could you send me a note when they get the programing in place for codes. I think I would like to purchase a Duo after this is in place. Thanks again. |
