My understanding is that it can not do more than 1 hour recording at a time because FAT32 file system has a file size limit.
The extension of the recorded file is .TS
Media Player Classic can playback those files out of the box and it is available for download for free at
hxxp://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84358

Cheers.

Just want to make a correction to my previous post.
There is definitely a files size limit, but it is not 1 hour.
I will post back when I have enough recording experience.

Cheers.

Others say it does 1 hour recording per 1 GB of attached USB storage.
It does make sense to me now :) I had 1GB flash drive plugged in...

Cheers.

Recording format is .TS, right now it has a 2hr limit on recording. Somesay that its a bin issue and can be fixed others say its a fat32 issue and thats just how it is. I belive it can be fixed to extend past the 2hr limit but I am not an expert on fat32 or writing bins. Just have to wait and see.

I found out that file size limit for FAT32 file system is 4GB, so, you can have up to 4 hours recording on Coolsat 7000.

I doubt I will ever record anything bigger than 4 GB / 4 hours, but if the limit is actually 2 hours, it is not good... :(
I guess the only way to find out about the limit is to try...

bump

Has anyone found the limit/file for the coolsat reciever?

reason i'm asking is that i'm planing to get one of these and if anyone has any comments on the total file size we can record per event/file as well as picture quality i'd appreciate it.

Actually 4gb is less than 2 hrs,a 2 hr recording should fit nicely on 1 dvd(4.7GB)
