Manteca 03-04-2007, 05:40 AM Loaded 146 about 8am keys rolled within 2 minutes, so far no freezing to report.
I would also like to add the following
Please keep to the subject and be constructive. No bashing and no personal pissing matches.
Any such posts will be deleted with no questions asked
Thank you
Raider51 03-04-2007, 05:41 AM It's way to early to tell the overall benefits yet, but A/R for ** kicked right in and switching between providers has been flawless so far. Will add further comments after it's run for a day.
One thing I always do after setting up and scanning, is to reboot the receiver. I also did do a factory default before loading this file.

Manteca 03-04-2007, 05:48 AM I agree with you Raider, much too early but it's a positive start. I have also uploaded the 146 file here in the usual place.
http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=57336&page=3
PS - I just loaded this one right over 144 and did a channel search on the other guy, only because it was due for one
mrgmc 03-04-2007, 05:55 AM loaded it 2 times right over 143b and everything is working great so far no factory defaults no rescans and both providers
Raider51 03-04-2007, 06:08 AM manteca,
Yes, a very positive start! Hope it holds true for everyone!
One thing! when in the guide and you hold the ch up or down button in, after you release it it will continue scrolling. No biggie and no freezes yet!
one2one 03-04-2007, 06:45 AM Just load and go over v1.45 this time for me.
Don't remember for sure about v1.45, but the games are gone on v1.46.
Cool!
HashSmoker 03-04-2007, 06:48 AM manteca,

I think the repeat rate is a little too high, but definitely liveable. Had 1 lockup during setup, rebooted and has now been great for 2 hrs. No more lockups and freezes. Great job TR. As you said Manteca...very positive.
Salty dog 03-04-2007, 07:04 AM Everything working good here so far. If nothing else TR is trying hard to keep us watching tv with their fast releases of fixes to the autoroll. No freezing or reboots to report so far. Maybe this time they have all the bugs worked out.
knarf 03-04-2007, 07:14 AM :) Loaded 146 bin right over 245 bin. Rolled in about2 minutes , Didn't have to rescan sats. This new bin is working great so far. The color is superb and the channels change fast. Nice to have the ac-3 back too. Thanks team Magnum for your continued support through the last few weeks. Love my Magnum.
jjwwcc 03-04-2007, 07:55 AM loaded new bin works great plus it rolls the other all the other fta,s are down on the other great job team r:hat:
puckhogjy 03-04-2007, 09:15 AM Loaded new bin 2 hours ago, running flawlessly soley on the the northern provider. No picture glitching or remote freezes. Great job thanks TR.
Jay
tooskinny 03-04-2007, 09:37 AM Been running the bin for about three hours with no glitching or lock ups at all:)
Glad to see TR has got this bin working great:yes:
yo8bps 03-04-2007, 10:43 AM Thanks Mike ! :)
BIN 146 works OK here ; hope , one day , autoroll works for Globecast ! :)
the prez 03-04-2007, 11:24 AM Just loaded 3 EV mags up. Everything is running good so far.:)
jmack1000 03-04-2007, 12:39 PM loaded 146 over 145. had real bad freeze. when went to ac-3.. locked so bad. had to do factory default. working now with minor freezes.
one2one 03-04-2007, 01:34 PM 6 hours later I have Yonder Girl channels mixed with D*** channels.
Factory Default...Try again...
HashSmoker 03-04-2007, 01:50 PM If i may make a suggestion. Factory default you current bin, then load V146, Factory default again, then setup sat..remember "Standard" lnb for "Single" lnb as "Single" is no longer there anymore, scan all channels and see how that works out. Been 8+ hours and no freezing or lockups. Good Luck.

Yeah, I noticed Single was now the more common Standard setting. I like that better. If it messes up again I'll go that route...gonna go as is until the need though...
mikesmadd 03-04-2007, 05:00 PM Folks,
I would like to publicly apologize for my rediculus ramblings in the "Magnum V146 being tested" (http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=83425) post. I was delusional... lol. Hope you can forgive my temporary lapse into insanity. I had been building and testing bins for many days. I normally hit the punching bag when I get stressed like that but that day I decided to post at dsstester and said some things and hurt some peeps that I really didn't mean to. Again, I'm sorry... I am passionate about supporting you all and will always give you my best but sometimes my humanity gets tha best of me.
Thanks for your continued support,
Mikesmadd
chuck 03-04-2007, 06:26 PM Thanks mikesmadd...we need to keep theses threads cool and no need for the constant bickering over the magnum. Just getting ready to load the 146 here :D
Ftaplaya 03-04-2007, 07:06 PM So far loving 146
Would be nice if the haters would chime in and let us know how they are making out?
7 loads today and not one complaint, mikesmadd your work does get appreciated :)
I thank ya

well i loaded it but didnt bother to waste more time scanning as i can watch my Vs without having to scan and delete unwanted channels..maybe in a few days..when i have more time to waste watching a menu screen ..and why rush to use it..it needs to prove itself more than 12 hours or so..in view of the last month recent bins
say hi to the rest of the admins over at fwfta for me

Ftaplaya, I think this is an irresponsible direction on your part. For one, almost every Magnum owner is hoping this bin works out as he has with the past ones. And you should know that it is far to early to draw any conclusions about the workings of v1.46. Give it some time. And if you need to label some members, keep it to yourself. No one wants this bin to be bad. If you hear of a problem, you don't need to take it as a complaint. And if someone gets frustrated, don't take it as hate. We're ALL trying to cut a little slack here. And sure, we appreciate mikesmadd and Team Reliable working on improving the Maggie. But let's take our time and try to avoid any snappy decisions that sometimes crack like concrete and report our findings with cooler heads...if at all possible.

It is always an irresponsible attitude when the known Sales Reps of the Magnum Receiver post in these threads.
Most of us know who you are, and I would very much like to see these threads asking for feedback on the Magnum bins to be free of posts from the Magnum Sales reps.
I am well known as "A hater Of the Magnum Receiver" but in reality as an owner of a Magnum I am actually hoping the Magnum Coders pull through and get this receiver working properly.
I am not a "Hate rof the Magnum Receiver" I am actually only a "Hater of the Magnum Sales Techniques" ---So take note of this Ftaplaya and all the rest of the Magnum Sales Team.
You guys are your own worst enemies.
I am at present testing the Magnum 146 bin and will post my objective results when I have fully tested it.
At present I am impressed with it.
Still has The ever present Video Glitches but is a giant step foreword from the last 7 bins released.
I will post more when I have tested it for a few days.
So please Magnum Sales Reps, stay out of these feedback threads and let the owners of the Magnum who are just owners of the receiver post their objective results.
And once again let me state---I am not a Viewsat Dealer or a Dealer of Viewsat clones as many of the Magnum people have accused me of being.
I have no affiliation with any FTA Receiver manufacturers.
Just an average testers with a few years of experience behind me posting my results.
Which will be posted in due time after I have tested this latest bin.
Cheers
Manteca 03-05-2007, 03:33 AM Well it only took 22 posts this time to get off topic again, last warning. Stop this bickering or else I will close thread. Keep to the bin discussion and nothing else:mad:
jd1122 03-05-2007, 06:28 AM loaded the 146 this morning and so far it looks good
HashSmoker 03-05-2007, 09:34 AM Everything was well for the first 24 hrs, then lost my DN channels going from DN pkg to all sats, rescanned and everything has been fine. No freezes or lockups still.
maebach 03-05-2007, 01:34 PM O man, I just loaded v145 on saturday. If this is as good as the replies Im gonna have to give this v146 a go. thanks all magnum coders for all your help and bins. Lets keep this up, my dad still thinks we should've got the Viewsat Xtreme. At this rate I can prove him wrong in no time
PS - Im finally a tester now, hopefully Ill get a cool coloured tester avatar soon :)
one2one 03-05-2007, 02:12 PM Radio: Haven't seen any problem there.
Freezing: Had a few freezes on CNN and Bios Channels last night, but after letting it run there a bit it shortly cleared up.
Lockups: Yesterday, 1 in menu, 1 on 110 locals, maybe 1 more. No lockups so far today.
Right now, I'm mostly looking for any major issues that would make me want to switch to my other box. So far, I haven't been hit with anything repetitive enough for that yet.
tooskinny 03-05-2007, 03:20 PM I have had a couple of lock ups on DN mainly when using the recall button. I had to reboot receiver each time this happen about three or four last night. Notice freezing before the lockups occured. Not sure if it has anything to do with the recall button or not. Everything else has been running fine.
I think TR is getting on the right track:)
chuck 03-05-2007, 04:26 PM Mine just locked up tonight and did a reboot and all is good. I am thinking this shouldnt happen and is something else that needs to be looked into. All in all it is running good.
Vassago 03-05-2007, 05:14 PM I'm glad everyone that was having problems before is reporting good results so far, but probably too early to tell. I'm sure you'll keep everyone posted.
I loaded over 145, no problems here so far, channels are even changing faster between providers. Good job guys, and thanks for adding the time back.
tonytoronto 03-05-2007, 05:24 PM So far 146 working better than previous 14x bins, still a few things; channels still get mixed up, had to redo 2 times already. Guide freezes sometimes, but much much better than before. No freezing on picture or rebooting so far.
Motor control issues, same as i had with 145.
much better, thank you guys.
tony
mikesmadd 03-05-2007, 05:32 PM Testers,
One of the things that we did in this bin was to set the Low Frequency for the Standard LNB from 11250 to 9750 and lock it out so that it can't be modified. We noticed that this was responsible for some freezing and lockup issues. If you check your LNB settings and your LNB type is set to Standard then the low freq should be 9750 if it says something different then select LNB Type and advance it to Universal and then back to Standard. This should change the low freq to 9750 if it is set to anything else. Update, exit and save.
Hope this helps some of you that are still having issues.
Mikesmadd
woodmedic 03-05-2007, 05:53 PM I noticed that the guide is much cleaner now. As in no more jibberish. Just an observation!! GJ TR!!!
jd1122 03-05-2007, 06:13 PM i have been running since this morning and only had a few minor freezes in the guide much better then the other bins

What exact issue will this update solve??
I get No Signal issue when changing from other provider to DN and have found changing channels up or down a channel or 2 until it locks into a channel then going back to original DN channel I was trying to view at the original change and the channels comes in.
Is this the issue this update will stop??
BTW watched a hockey game last night-----Video glitching still evident but while it still glitches it did not click into the herky jerky 1/2 speed video that was happening in all the 140 series bins.
Will post more as I test this bin, just started work on a new project so may not have too much viewing time till the weekend.
The 146 bin up to this point seems to be a giant step in the right direction for Magnum bins.
Will post more when I have a little more time to test.
thebroken 03-05-2007, 07:45 PM Setwire, I would love to help you figure that out.
Please tell me what your setup is... Including...
LNB TYPES, ALL in use on the Magnum. Dont give just usual suspects, tell me brand, and original intent of the head.
Switches, All in use, including DP head.
how many other boxes hooked up at the time... if you have multiple set up.
All birds looked at, just give the n1, n2, e7, e8, e5....

i am not trying to steer away from this thread discussion but didn't you publicley offer setwire 350 for his magnum on hash, as you can see i have been polite on this thread but there was a question as to your integrity. so far bin 146 working good for me with only a few minor freezes
thebroken 03-05-2007, 08:21 PM We haven't settled on a way to pay yet, but My offer still stands. But I will not pay with international money order or check. I pay with PayPal, or cash.

Cash would be just fine with me.
Or a Money Transfer.
I know you and Gruner Elephant are friends, and I believe he lives very near me. in the Vancouver area, so if it is a matter of trust then get the money to Gruner and he can drop by with the cash and pick up the Receiver.
Works for me.
I must add that the bins seem to be improving ---- must be why you took 2 weeks to reply to my PMs my guess is you have been very very busy,
Regardless I am still interested in the offer you made me.
Any chance of "The Team" getting rid of that video glitch that has plagued the Magnum for months now.
Think we are highjackint this thread though--kind of feel guilty about that, so perhaps PM's here is the way to settle this situation.
Cheers
Rob

chuck 03-06-2007, 02:42 AM Please stay on topic. :(
mrgmc 03-06-2007, 06:37 AM 146 2 days 1 freeze up 1 hard reboot thats much better than before
oredog 03-06-2007, 08:32 AM I've had the same freeze ups and reboot problems as everyone else, but noticed when trying to change channels by inputting #s in the remote nothing above 99 are accessible directly, I have to go to the guide and scroll to desired channel coming up with freezes and reboot problems. If its a setting or something simple I would sure love to hear a solution.
mrgmc 03-06-2007, 08:41 AM My freeze up ,i was going throw the ppv channel by channel not in the guide no trouble putting channel numbers in,loaded 2 times right over 143b no F/D or scanning channels.provider ###
one2one 03-06-2007, 10:02 AM oredog, on the previous bin I had a similar problem with entering the channel number by remote, it happened after a provider channel mix up. Only way I could clear it up was doing a Factory Default. And if I had to do that, I'd also re-install v1.46 over itself again. Might help clear up some freezing and lockup issues if you are having an over excessive amount.
I did have another lockup/reboot this morning while watching G10. But if it gets no worse than this, I think I might can get along with v1.46.
oredog 03-06-2007, 11:48 AM Thanks for the suggestion one2one, I will give it a try. Thanks again man:beer:
mpayne123 03-06-2007, 03:47 PM This is the best bin i have been using since the v 138 so far I have only had a couple of freeze ups using the northern provider I am very pleased I just hope that it stays like this.
Mark
jd1122 03-06-2007, 03:55 PM very minor problems with this bin so i would have to say no complaints on this one
latinodish 03-06-2007, 09:43 PM Bin 146 is operating fine at mine but in which it concerns Closed Caption this is not operating as it must be. The writing of the language is not correct and does not appears inmediately with the speech especially at PPV channels take a long time to appears. This it has been a problem from the origen of the Maggie which has not even been corrected. Thanks for the others improvements.
one2one 03-07-2007, 04:12 AM It's really good to have all those strange characters gone from the Guide Menu now. And I'm glad the Maggie might be getting back on track.
Besides the temporary freezing that seems to me to be associated more with certain channels like the History group (Usually 3 or 4 freezes in a roll), and the Lockup/Reboot glitch, I think the channel switching time should also be looked into. A lot of times it will switch to another channel in 2 seconds, and on just as many it will take 5 and 7 seconds to switch to another channel. This is not an estimate, I "Clocked" the time. 5 and 7 seconds seems a bit excessive.
But again, in all, v1.46 is a good step forward.
Raider51 03-07-2007, 05:56 AM Other than the original freeze and reboot on the initial install, no lockups or reboot's since.
Still gaps in program information, Repeat rate when scrolling the guide needs tweaked, occasional slow switching for channels. As one2one said I'm also seeing micro freezes on that channel group, the sound will keep going but the picture freezes. Toggle channel button and it's okay.
Much improved file and looking forward to going forward again!
Dishpro LNB's, DP34 switches, and three providers.

Same issues here-----running 2 providers, can't receive 110 Sat as a large building in the way.
When switching between providers get message --Service Not Currnetly Available but toggling up or down a channel or 2 brings video back.
Video glitching still very evident.
Gaps in information in EPG.
Gibberish most all gone in EPG Info.
Herky jerky 1/2 video mode while watching hockey games appears to be gone.
All in all v146 is a definite step foreword for Magnum.
TR you seem to be on track on this release, still a few bugs but a definite improvement from all the other 140 series bins.
Cheers
Salty dog 03-07-2007, 07:02 AM When switching between providers get message --Service Not Currnetly Available but toggling up or down a channel or 2 brings video back.
Slow channel changes are bin related. What you list reads like a diseqc switch going bad. The "signal not currently available" is not normal for this bin. The fact that the channel comes in by toogling the channel button confirms the switch theroy. Each time you toogle the channel button it resends the 22 khz burst command. Change your switch and see if it makes a difference.
Bin 146 works very good but has minor bugs and hopefully TR gets it perfect next time.

That could be more easily tested with another receiver. While I've not noticed any no signal message with v1.46, I have with the others. It could be just as easily related to the unit sending the burst command...no?
one2one 03-07-2007, 08:03 AM While we're on this bad or cheap switch theory, I think we hear too much about it. I have a friend that paid almost $40 each for two 22KHz switches, and neither would work on his Fortec. I bought 2 off eBay, for $6 + shipping ($3 each), installed one for myself and him and they worked great and still do. When it comes to switches, either they work or they don't. If you have a bad one, replace it with one that works. And if it works, it works. And if it works well with all your other receivers, but doesn't with the Magnum, it's not very likely the switch.

Vassago 03-07-2007, 01:36 PM Yeah, at FWFTA they tried to tell me my diseqc switch was bad when I installed 142 over 138 and couldn't get it to switch from port 1. But when I installed 145, MAGICALLY, it works again. Sounds more like bad coding to me since they went back to 138 clearly when they released 145.
one2one 03-07-2007, 02:21 PM When switching between providers get message --Service Not Currnetly Available but toggling up or down a channel or 2 brings video back.
You know, now that you mentioned it, I do notice that when I change channels and it is one of those times that takes 5 or 7 seconds, I often see a blue message screen flicker and disappear. It's just a flicker and I don't have time to really read it. But it makes me suspect that along with the delayed channel changing there is a possibility of a delayed tone burst or something that gets misfired.
No freezes, no lockups today. Nada. :)
jaigandhi5 03-08-2007, 12:54 PM yep ive been getting "service not available.." on 61.5 and toggling does not fix it! i have to hard reboot the receiver, other than that v146 is amazing!
maebach 03-08-2007, 01:25 PM loaded v146 yesterday and I've had to do 1 hard reboot. No freezes on 61.5 or 119. thanks alot, this is alot better than v145
one2one 03-08-2007, 07:04 PM Well, 4 days this time before the lockups/reboots on the N_One got so bad I just went ahead and switched boxes again.
one2one 03-09-2007, 06:22 AM 4 lockups/reboots in 40 minutes last night while switching channels back and forth on ol' N One porn.
Decided to boot the box up this morning and look for any missing channels or provider channel mix up that could maybe be related...nothing else wrong I can see.
ramhal 03-10-2007, 03:42 PM Still had lockups and had to reboot many times...so I didn't notice any change from the last bin !!!!
tooskinny 03-11-2007, 07:10 AM Yeah seems the more I watch tv the more reboots I have to do. They usually follow one right after another with in a couple of minutes. After that it seems to work for hours without even a flicker. I guess it good for me to get off of the couch a couple of times anyway.
one2one 03-11-2007, 08:10 AM Yeah, there's still some glitches that needs worked out. A few nights ago I tried to watch a movie on channel 319, I think it was, one of the Showtime channels in that group anyhow, and it had constant freezing. Reboot didn't help, and that was the only channel I noticed any constant freezing on. Any other movie channel I'd switch to worked fine.
kidgrumpy 03-11-2007, 08:38 PM Turn auto tp off and change the lo freq. to 9750. Since I did this I have had no problems with this bin the last 2 days.

Are you watching both providers or only 1 provider????
That information is kind of critical when responding to Magnum bin posts.

Watching both providers. Sorry I forgot to mention it in my original post but critical? Maybe informative. If you're having problems then what difference does it make what you're watching if the solution fixes the problem?
maebach 03-12-2007, 03:50 PM Since sunday (march 11) I've been getting 'No Info' in the guide. I've rebooted, and set the sat list to 'DISHnet package'. I dont know what to do. Any help or suggestions?

First make sure your time is set correctly. Here's what I do to get the guide to populate. Turn the box off with switch on back then on again, once picture comes up hit the channel list. I will scroll threw the list not hitting ok or anything. This always seems to make my guide populate:yes:
Good luck

I hit the find button while in the guide to populate it...works ok but I also still have some channels with no info...
I'm not very satisfied with any of the last bins since 138 :(
mrgmc 03-12-2007, 03:57 PM This works for me go to guide, hit find and put i stand by for 10 or 15 mins.
maebach 03-12-2007, 04:17 PM I restarted it, set the time, went to guide, and pressed find. Now Im watching antenna and the fuzzyness is hurting my eyes :o
chuck 03-12-2007, 05:33 PM Must have done something else...in the guide when we hit find it jumps to channel 119. So you are saying when you did this you lost everything???
Check your sat setup and see if you have a signal on each sat. Sounds like maybe the coax is unhooked :D
jjwwcc 03-14-2007, 09:31 AM looks like we will have to live with this bin has been over a week and no new bin,i think the direct tv was just a try to generate sales that backfired:no:

Please keep to the subject and be constructive. No bashing and no personal pissing matches.
Vassago 03-14-2007, 05:39 PM No problems really here so far. I've noticed the guide for the other provider doesn't populate as effectviely for me as it did with the other bins though. Anyone else experiencing this?

How would you know if autoroll is working????
DN has not changed keys since Mar 1st and the other provider has not changed keys since Mar 14th.
knarf 03-17-2007, 04:28 AM Team Reliable to release new 147 bin soon. Lets all be patient. They are listening to all Magnum users and are continuing to tweak the bins to get them working properly. I've said it before and i'll say it again. No one else is using this chipset, and it may take alot more time to get things right. For the money the Magnum is one hell of a good receiver. If people cannot be patient then quit whining and go out and purchase whatever receiver they want. Giving the coders information about certain problems about the bins are certainly justified , but constantly crying everytime there is a freeze or minor lock-up is ridiculous. Thanks Team Reliable for the ongoing support.Love my Magnum!

When you change the freq do you leave the first number blank or add a zero?
Has this worked on the lockups for anyone?

Just go to "setup sat." then press whatever sat your changing then "lnb type" change this from standard to universal then back again. It will automatically lock the lo freq. at 9750 (no 0 in front). I have had zero problems with bin 146 since I used the two "fixes" I stated in my previous post.

Well for all we know you could be watching FTA Sats.
So I would say reporting what providers you are watching is critical information for feedback purposes.
orca1993 03-18-2007, 04:41 PM What do you mean no one is using this chipset? What about the Ariza 700.
Its not all that unique.

I don't believe Ariza 700 uses the 5105 CPU.
knarf 03-19-2007, 02:54 AM :) Hello,
I believe the Ariza 700 uses the 5518 chip, while Magnum uses the 5105. At any rate they are both experiencing problems. This is why I believe it is something unique to these chips. Whether the problems can be modified through software or if it will require a board modification only time will tell. Maybe we can all be a little more specific when telling the coders are boxes are locking up etc. Is this happening on one particular channel? Is it happening when using the guide? When changing channels too quickly, or when using AC-3. If we all give a little more info then maybe the coders can narrow the solution down to a certain area of the receiver. I know alot of people are frustrated, but i'm sure a solution will come shortly.:)

Why would I be using the 146 bin if I were using the box for true FTA? Critical information is knowing that your vitals are ok and you are going to recover after having a heart attack not which providers are you stealing signals from. Let's just agree to disagree on the semantics. The solutions I provided were for the general issues of the freezing etc. and was not dependent on which providers you're watching even if you were watching true fta.
maebach 03-19-2007, 02:23 PM Ive only had occassional freezes over the last few days, resulting in back-to-back restarts. Im excited for the new v147 :hat:

I wouldn't get too too excited about v147 bin.
If Magnum coders are as good at coding as they are at honouring deals made with people on the forums then getting excited about v147 may be a big let down.

if thebroken had honored his word and bought setwire's magnum there would be no problem i guess he is not a man of his word, as for my magnum i gave it away to a friend for free last week and he gave it back and asked me to set him up with a working receiver, i hooked mine back up and it is the same old shit constant freezeing and no info on most of the epg, when do you think that the magnum coders will ever get it right because i am tired of hearing about the great processor they use and it is one of a kind who cares just put out a glitch free bin thats why most of us bought a magnum in the first place i also neg repped you for you over the top comments this is not fwfta
coranger 03-20-2007, 11:24 AM Real hash smokers don't use that kind of language in an open forum. What ya thinkin? Down.....C:no:

when you attack a member like that. NONE of the posters were criticizing anything except the bins and their source. Hash got WAAAYYYY too personal with the goose IMHO!
yo8bps 03-20-2007, 04:04 PM My BOX is not working at this time , all scramble channels are down on 119 !!!... Anybody has the same problem ??
yo8bps 03-20-2007, 04:14 PM It is working now ; this was the first time I had to reset the box twice from the back switch !!?!..... I must send it back in the next few days !
Manteca 03-20-2007, 04:18 PM My box is working just fine on both providers. This thread is now closed as we obviously do not know how to follow the rules. Discuss this elsewhere:mad:
