I have read as many threads and sticky's as possible and I came out with this solution. Can someone check my diagram and let me know if this is going to work? Thanks,

View Full Version : 2 x 18" dish w/ dual lnb 110 & 119 to 4 fta receivers viperware 01-23-2007, 10:54 AM I have read as many threads and sticky's as possible and I came out with this solution. Can someone check my diagram and let me know if this is going to work? Thanks, -viperware- woofy 01-23-2007, 10:57 AM Why not make things easier and cheaper. A dish500 with a quad lnb..aim the dish to 119,110, four wires to 4 receivers no switches needed.:D DJMBS 01-23-2007, 03:44 PM A 5x4 switch.. didn't know they made a beast like that.. Anyways, Woofy is bang on.. a Dish500 with a Quad will do the job nicely...!!! no switches.. simple and clean.... !! Diplexer not needed.. feed Cable thru the TV IN or ANT IN jack.... DJMBS viperware 01-23-2007, 07:20 PM would buying a quad lnb dish 500 dish really be cheaper than using my existing equipment and adding a $50 5x4 switch? I guess another question would be if a 5x4 switch does essentially the same thing as 4x 18" dishes with dual lnb's with diseqc switches attached to them. Basically would I use the same diseqc port switch settings on my viewsat if I changed to a 5x4 switch rather than using the supplied diseqc switch? The reason i need to use a diplexer is because I have only one rg-6 feed going to each room. If I can send both signals (satellite & cable tv) down a single rg-6 cable and then split the signal with a diplexer at each tv set, that would be ideal. Assuming thats what a diplexer allows you to do. As of now I can only do one or the other in each room, cable tv or satellite, not both. Can anyone verify this? Thanks. -viperware- p.s. I also have a dish pro plus double lnb with 2 outputs and 1 through-put port and I noticed in this thread ; http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=70844 the 2nd picture is a dishpro plus double lnb on an 18" dish. Perhaps there is a custom solution here, such as, dpp double lnb on one 18" dish and a poorman dish500 with my two dual lnb's on the other 18" dish going to my diseqc switch. Also, I think a dpp double lnb has to be powered by a dish pro receiver. Which I do not have. I have a viewsat ultra, but in the options i believe there is a setting for dpp type lnb. Anyone know what I can do with all this equipment, I think what I'm saying here is possible. Please let me know. Thanks. DJMBS 01-23-2007, 09:35 PM Sounds to me like you've already made up your mind.. so I say.. "Go for it".!!.. and let us know how it works out... DJMBS newfiefisher 01-24-2007, 09:26 PM Hi Viperware I am only new at this stuff, but I would suggest only running one wire from each lnb to your switch. Other wise you are going to confuse the switch. One wire from your ant to the switch and then 4 wires to your recievers with the splitter on one reciever to go to a tv tuner. You may have to amplify the signals but try it first without the amplifiers. Take care Newfiefisher DJMBS 01-25-2007, 12:35 AM reason you run both sides of a dual LNB to the switch, is because you need both polarities available, and separate... otherwise, one receiver will affect another when they demand the same bird, but opposite poles... That part makes sense, just not a wise way to do it... complicated and not necessary |
