Hi there, I am looking at buying a captiveworks 600s Premium. This would be my first FTA box. I have been reading the forums and have some questions. I understand that you get B dn. I downloaded the V1.05 file to see what it does and there is a SW download a Data, key and upload. Not sure what each of these is for. I assume the S/W is to download the Bin files, and the key is to download the keys separately. Also does the one bin file unlock both B and dn

OK first thing edit your post to remove the reference to the forbidden provider, read the site rules and refer to rule number 6 and you will see why, Captiveworks are great boxes you will find all the necessary files and information on this site the current file for the premium is the 1.30 also the 1.6 loader is available in the files section for download this and some reading should be all you need to get a premium going

I have been reading, whats the difference between the 1.30 bin and the kround files? do you have to download channel info, I read all about this but know one says how it actually works. Whats everything for. I get the instructions on how to do it. Not sure what everythings for.

i have been testing captiveworks sence they came out. both the 600s and the 600 premium. you need the v1.06 loader for the premium. v1.30 is the latest bin and works very good for the providers. make sure you download the factory bin for the premium. at some later time you may need it. make sure you enable the patch (f-1 you will see h on the display enter 000). this is a fun and simple receiver to test. make sure you never use any bins for the 600s only the premium.

the older CW receivers used to be supported by summer software. they now use CX_kround. so, if it's a new receiver, all you'll need is the latest bin release, and to add some flare, load the icon and longchannellist bins. the icon bin will display a channel icon on the screen when you change channels and also in the epg, and the longchannellist will give you a full channel name as opposed to like say maybe the biography channel being displayed as BIOG.

since keys load and roll automatically, you don't need the keys option from the loader, but the download data option is used if you wish to download someone elses channel list to your receiver in place of doing a scan of your own, or loading an older channel list of your own to the receiver. the upload data is used for saving a channel list from your receiver to your computer.

One more question the icon and channel list load the sameway as the bin file. Also from what I have read turn autoroll on and patch to on using F1, 000. Thanks to all for helping I have a guy who wants to sell me one of these but is charging me an $100.00 + for support, and I have talked to people who say you can do it yourself with some reading an help on forums. The CW Premium is an awesome box, but I wouldnt get it as my first FTA box, its a little technical as opposed to the Viewsat or Pansat. Plus for real FTA its not that great, I had to add a user TP to get Aljazeera english (Viewsat too, Pansat was the only one to get it on a scan) But 7 day guide, flawless autoroll and kick a*s support do make it my #1 choice 4 sure.. Just my 2 cents :-)

you're welcome .... glad to of been able to help clear up some of the confusion.

the icon bin and long channellist bin both load exactly like the 1.29/1.30 bin. you'll need to enable the patch which will enable you to view all the channels you scan in. you press F1 then three zeo's. the receiver will display H 000 then the tv will display patch enabled. turn auto TP and autoroll both on.

when you scan for channels, it will ask FTA only no/yes. answer no or thats all you'll get, FTA channels. it won't pick up any scrambled channels.

I've tried the 106 loader with the v1.30 bin, and the 102 loader with the 1.29 bin, and neither seemed to do anything.

The "f-1 you will see h on the display enter 000" only pops up a Brightness and Cntrast box.

I have absolutely no clue how to get 1 of these to work though I know what is needed to do to make it work doesnt work.

as it is booting up from the back power switch, push the front power button a couple of times until you get this look on the display __ __:__ __. then load your first bin and so on!

Thx, but loading the bins isnt my problem, they load fine, just they dont do anything after they are loaded.

The F1 000 doesnt unlock anything. I cant enable the patch. i.e. there is no "h"

the back switch..let power up..then hit f1...then 000...should see "patch enable"

if nothing else...try reloading the factory bin, the one that is for your model, and start over...make sure your following the instructions correctly.

K, that doesnt make sense though.

If it needs to be in --:-- mode that doesnt happen untill you hit the Power button, and not the botton on the back of the box.

I've looked for the factory default bin, but cant find it on this site, and CW site has several bins of which I'm not sure which 1 I need.

switching on the back power button....then you will see the --:--...then you load your bins..you will see "end"...reboot from back...then f1...then 000...that is if you loaded the bins correctly! you will love this unit for the money...just gotta get it going,huh?:yes:

I definately got a good price on it, but I'm still not sure if it was a deal or not. :lol:

I successfully loaded and enabled the 1.29 patch but still had problems. It seemed to keep rebooting, but I guess thats probably why there is 1.30fixreboot bin. :D

I also didnt seem to find the Sats I wanted in the lists, and it wouldnt create new West Sats, they always saved as East. I tried saving East to see if that'd make it save West, but no. :rolleyes:

Hopefully I can get this all sorted soon. I'm going to load the newest bin and give that a go.

I'm really starting to regret buying this box. As a complete n00b I was able to get an Ariza completely running in less than 15 minutes. I've been messing wih this useless CaptiveWorks box for days now and am nowhere close to getting it to actually work. :rolleyes:

Did you do a factory restore after you loaded the bin? you need to or else it will keep rebooting when you try to set up your sats..
