I was looking at universal remotes on boxing day sales, but opted against them because my spidey sense told me they wouldn't be friendly with my FTA equipment. Let me know if you learn anything.

If you buy a Logitech Harmony remote it can program the magnum and every other fta out there. It's the only remote you'll ever need again. Might be pricey but the best investment you can make.

balding you are right, i set up a harmony remote for my buddy and if you can afford one they are worth it, just hook to pc and program, and raider they can be had for about 100.00 on tigerdirect, if you have a lot of high dollar components it is worth it,

Got mine last year on boxing day, 99 bucks and 20 dollar mail in rebate.
Best toy I ever got. You can program anything space heaters, ceiling fans you name it, you can also update the tv guide for a few days.
All you info for your remote is stored on their web page.
Can't talk highly enough of the harmony remote.
No I don't work for them just a extremely satisfied customer.
