CW600s Premium Clone Notice
C/P from: captiveworks site
Please note that some distributors, mainly in Canada, have introduced clones of the CW-600S Premium Receivers.
Be advised that these receivers do NOT carry any warranty and future software will cut power on these receivers permanently without the possibility to fix or repair.
If your receiver serial number starts with CWP0611XXXX where XXXX is a four digit number, your receiver is not an authentic CaptiveWorks product and does not carry warranty. Return it immediately to your supplier and demand full refund.
We strongly advice customers to buy from our authorized distributors or retailers as they only carry authentic CaptiveWorks products.
In the event of purchasing from other retailers, please verify the serial number of the purchased receiver prior to making a payment.

So, our CW600S boxes are going the way of Pansat? Only difference is the serial number...probably made at the same factory by the same people as the earlier CW600S. Clone kills and dead boxes are expected to gain the retailer what? Time to say screw all CW600S boxes, mine included.

Well, they should know that Pansat only went downhill after they introduced the kill code in their bins. It places the whole burden on the users, is this a clone or not a clone...better to just avoid buying any of those type boxes that contain unwanted malicious code and play safe.

Thank you for the heads up MAS, when the CW first came out and all their new owners were seeking help I noticed this unit looking exactly like my clone of the Pantec ms that said pasat 2500a on the box, I thought I had made a massive mistake by unknowingly buying my clone reciever, after it was in fact killed by the clone bins released by pasat.
But after the inital struggle and then Victory getting it Jtagged and back up, then as time wore on I noticed eventually that a lot of times when both the CW and the Pasats were dead in the water that my cheap clone was still up and testing (with fortec and pantec bins) I admit the non-crossover remote codes was a pain and a struggle- ie once you learn to use the zero button for the previous channel button and so fourth, now the fortec's are using pansat bins. I under stood that in testing there is no given cause you spend more money than me so you'll be testing when I am not just isn't so. Some times your up and there not or the other way around. And when your down then you find out just how resourceful you really are, and when I do buy another reciever it will not be a pansat, yes one2one because of their greed and malichous clone kill bins. It will be some thing with more memory , unlike this recent clone of the CW, and most likely a Linux operating system that had open source code like linux!. As I believe it to be the future of this hobby, as the emu uses it and clone's that I hear are doing better than their copied counterparts. So if CW wants to stay around and if they are in fact going to release clone kill code into their software targeting what sounds like the boot file and or the powersouce overheating itself they ought to think again, as I will be able to jtag those babies after buying them for CHEAP instead of their original recievers (If I choose too!)and then if nothing else they will just give the coders more info on what they are doing, if nothing else. Just like coolsat did with the koolsat with their encrytion, and yes the koolsat is still up!
And another opinion is that the CW is made by the same people that made my and alot of other recievers all with the same or silghtly different chipset combo. And now they are out to kill what they started as that's brilliant!
