Hi, do you know if this has the fix for slow channel changing by chance?

This is such a flacky box I never bothered installing either of the last two bins on it. But, I think it is probably an attempt to make that better. I might go ahead and test it later today.

Yeah, just tested it too, no fix for slow-channel changing problem... Oh well, I dont notice anything different from this vs the Oct 20th bin.

The new file doesn't seem to fix anything really. the channel changeing is painfully slow, the picture pixelates frequently, I hope they come up with a better solution - The satellite scan seems so much slower as well. I have a cheap skyview and it works flawlessly compared to the Fortec.

Yeah, the slow-channel changing is starting to get frustrating... They really need to fix this as priority number one... and yes, it pixelates alot and occasionally freezes (especially when I go into EPG mode)...

The only change is I don't have to enter code when I power on.

can anyone tell me if they are having trouble with the auto roll sometimes taking an extensive (sometimes 8 hrs) long time to find codes...and also i go to the code entry it has all up to date keys on it but still says please wait updating code...i would appreciate any tips on faster updating

be236
11-11-2006, 06:37 PM
Yeah, I've had this problem too... sometimes I let it go overnight at "updating" but still nothing happens... but recently it's taking about 10 minutes to updating, so that seems good, I guess... again, it's hit and miss.. so when it takes forever to update, I usually give up and switch sats and hope it goes faster... I've also heard that if you leave it on to a particular channel, the update may go faster, but I dont know which channels in particular...

On all fortecs, DN has been key morphing on fridays, so always check your keys. the last keycode was on the 00 keys and the 4th key was stuck on 68 instead of 6E. you have to manually insert the key to restart the recievr back into action. In most cases, it is the keycode, not the bin, so check your keycdoe.

Ah .. very interesting. I havent been pointing to DN (was at some other bird.heh) and then today pointed to DN and it kept trying to update code...then I would check the updated code (just checking the first byte of the 4 lines in the menu system and the last byte in the 4th and last line) and both bytes looked fine (matched what was listed as correct keys on this site in that forum)...

Are you saying that somehow (this morphing thing) that the keys in the middle may be "wrong" when it autorolled and that I need to check each and every byte and manually correct it? If so, that's fine... I guess I didnt realize that.. I assumed that if my Fortec rolled, it would roll the correct keys (which it did when I always was pointed at DN..)....hmm... interesting...

just be sure to check your keys. All it takes is for one to be out of line to knock it off. Having key ripper by oyur side helps a lot also. You are quit welcome.

Yeah, I'll check for all the bytes in the keys next time, instead of the first and last byte.. d'oh...

Also, do you know if/when Classic bin will have the slow-channel changing fixed?

Just curious.. What loader do you guys use on the Fortec Classic.?? Is it a BL loader.??

brooklynman4
11-13-2006, 02:15 AM
We use the loader from the original fortec website and the loader is called dnupman.

Do not know when the new bin is coming. checked everywhere and there is nothing but this updated bin so far. the funny thing is that this box is faster than the FLU and the FLU is working great compared to this one. Strange but true. The bin is better than not having anything for the past summer season, so we might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Yeah,I use the loader from Fortec's main website, called DnUpMan something like that... it seems easy enough to use... dont know about any other loaders...

I got this Fortec cuz I had a buddy who has "true" FTA and he recommended this Fortec brand... but now after been on this site and a few others, it seems clear to me that my next receiver will probably be a Viewsat Ultra (or soon-to-be HD receiver)...

I'm able to watch tv on the small screen. When I press ok to see the whole picture without the channel list, I have problems. The picture frezees and goes blank. ????????? what to do???????

be236
11-14-2006, 06:39 PM
Hmmm.... I dont have that particular problem,it works fine for me.. just ocassional freezes only, not that bad really.. I am more frustrated about the slow-channel changing.

Seems like you can try to re-load that bin 11-1-2006 again?
