Sept 2006 might almost brings us back to where we were in September 2005. Nearly all FTA providers have followed Viewsat’s lead and posted fixes for their respective STB’s. Over the past 24 hours we have seen a flury of highly anticipated releases.

First out was Captiveworks. TDG reported:

"What can I say? Have to give credit where credit is due. The Captive Works Team has gotten all of their models up and running on cardless! I was pretty sure they would get the CW-600 Premium up, and they did. They got the CW-1000 Linux based unit up the day before, (really intereseted in this 1). It also has a hard drive and gets over 100 IPTV channels. Now, today, to get them all up on cardless, even the CW-600, shows serious support, accomplished by a pretty good team. Kudo's for being the next to step up with a cardless fix for your units!"

Next was ExtremeView with a CARDLESS, ROM102, and ROM103 solution for their unit:

"We look forward to supplying the needs of the owners of Magnum XV3300 and everyone in the FTA community, with the goal of NO down time what so ever. We feel having a choice of a CARDLESS solution and multiple CARDED solutions in one unit provides the best Free-To-Air experience for end users. "

Blacklist and Pansat brought up the rear and released fixes for the latest ECM across all receivers as of this hour. In recent posts BL has claimed that work he has done since June 22nd will facilitate the release of ever speedier fixes. I guess the proof will be in the tasting but props to Blacklist for supporting the thousands of Pansat users who have been out in the cold for some months.

That is an awsome post chip but we will see how long it lasts for. Hopefully it does so I could dust off some of my old fta's and start testing them again. What we really need is a cardless fix for the dreambox. LET FTA LIVE ON!!!!

Hopefully next time FTA's go down and pansat is running last, people will realize that they are capable of decyphering the code and they are NOT to slow nor have to little memory. Like I have said... processing power plays a small role in decyphering channels.

Great post, Chip.. If pansat receivers work as good as I'm hoping they will, we might have to rename them * PHOENIX * hehehe.. rising up from the ashes..!!!

Well the current situation certainly relieves alot of the frustration we've seen on the board lately. This in and of itself is a great positive.

The big question though remains, what's coming down the pipeline next. Those of us who have been testing for eons know, there is always something next.
