View Full Version : All channels open How long?

Around 1PM today DN removed the map57 encryption from the stream. This means that Rom19, Atmega, and all FTA are again running wide open again.

This is interesting considering that Spain's Rom110 was hit yesterday with a major ECM looping many cams in the country. Could this be coming our way?

More info here: http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=66505

Chip: Sorry to edit this post but the above is more clear.

Maybe the ecm map57 was affectin the subs and they pulled the plug on it....boy I hope so...or maybe they figured viewsat cracked so they no longer are gonna use this method....pretty weird though:wow:

Seems very strange indeed! but yep-All DN channels are playing on my 2500a as well as my 3500SD. Charlie might be just doing some sort of test. Saw this sort of thing before back in the Dtv HU days.
Just hope they leave them on far a while while Blacklist and crew get their things sorted out. ~Stingray75~

The only thing I can say Is my atmeg has never looked this good in months.
If it stays wide open for one minute, hour, day, week or month its a bonus.
Its called testing so lets sit back and enjoy the ride.Best of luck to all !!

I dont get it....some people rant and rave because we have been down for 3 months...and now, they bellyache because we are open for business again!!! They say this does not bode well for Viewsat...or that this is a sign of really bad things to come, etc...

How about just sitting back and enjoying this little window we are having and quit bitching like prepubescent girls! Butch up already!

If I were to venture a guess as to why all the FTA receviers are now working, I would say it is one of two reasons. First off, it may just be some of their equipment is malfunctioning and reverting to their old format is nothing more than a temporary fix for their problem.

Second, it could mean they are installing some new equipment and it may have been necessary to shut down certain operations while installing the new stuff.

I have no evidence whatsoever to support what I just said, but to my mind those would be the two most likely reasons for it.

Assuming I am correct, this all open FTA receiver condition will be short lived. But, on the other hand, I could be dead wrong.

Yes I heard and read about that ,not sure what this means ...but he's up to something, someone else posted if he was sure it was 10b, or 108,, and the answer was ...yes the info on his sub reciever said so, ...what is 10b, is it just a open revison for him to make changes in the real one he plans to use next? is that why most older roms cards are working too,,and the fta's, and the atmega right now? cards burnt in europe , something IS STARTING TO STINK, may be as soon as friday from reading I done ,but hold on tight, we're gona go another round, it will be bumpy...:o

The conventional wisdom seems to be that he pulled the Map 57 out of the stream in order to update his subs. That's why everything, down to an open ROM 3, is working right now.
Once his work is done, in a day or so, I would expect to see him go to a different Map Call. He doesn't know any more than the rest of us if VS has ALL the Map routines, but he is the one who can force Viewsat's hand, lol.
Isn't it fun to test?

Hmmm, I wonder.. this could get **VERY** interesting... If this goes down bad, and stays down again, maybe all the Viewsat owners will be looking for *another* brand to buy.?? For everyone's sake, I sure hope not, but, it could turn out to be an interesting scenario..!!!! You know the old addage... "Haste makes Waste"... well, a hasty purchase might prove wasteful... My Pansat sure looked good tonite tho....!!!!:wow:

I think the rules about the "other provider" are a held a little too much like dogma sometimes. They both (dish and "them") are usually on the same page or at least pretty close in terms of encryption techniques, and so I think it's silly to completely black all talk of them in cases like this. The provider may not be what we talk about here, but what's going on in their encryption is very much pertinent to our situations, because it mirrors dish.

For example if it all goes down again and then a month from now someone gets a legitimate hack of the northern provider, I want to know, because it could tell us a lot about how close we are to cracking dish.

If the other provider is down, then does that mean this isn't dish loading up to wipe everything out, and just a mistake on their part. Or does it mean they're waiting for dish to go first. Or if it's up, what does that mean?

I think sometimes we have to think a little about the rules (not just here, but in everything) and see WHY the rules are what they are. And what they really mean. I really don't know why we can't talk about them (there's really no answer on this site except you can't.) But if it's okay to use information about their ENCRYPTION to help with dish testing, it's silly and shortsighted not to (as long as we keep it just that, pertaining to dish testing.)

I'm sure there is a good reason. It probably has to do with where the server is located, court orders, and things like that. I'm fine with the site owners setting the rule and trusting that they have a good reason. In the same way I'd be OK with the New York Times NOT printing all of the secret tools our government is using to catch terrorists.

I don't know who this lilmafia guy is but that wanna be gangsta rap is lame.
As for the rest of the news, it's good to hear.
This reminds me of a few episodes from the DTV days when they threw out a ecm and it messed with regular subscriber stb's.
They yanked the ecm and we had a few weeks of unending bliss.
If this is a changeup from nagra to another form of encryption then were all in for a few months of snow eventually.
I won't enjoy it while it lasts simply because I watch linear only now and have been since this all began.
I'm quite happy with the lineup on 123 and don't plan to switch.
Several of the other foreign providers have also decided to play fairly recent movies on many of their channels so, for me its the same as dish, without the ppv.
Either way, I'm out of the rat race, which is why i post so rarely these days.
