View Full Version : Blackbird HELP
ajspawn79 08-21-2006, 07:13 PM Hello,
I have not used my Blackbird for over 3 year, because the old place I lived at was not pointing in the right direction. Well, now that I have my new place and a couple of re-imaging of my computer, I have lost all my BLACKBIRD files. I have not upgraded my software for over 3 years now, and I need help gathering the program for upgrading firmware. I also need help doing. If someone can assist me in the right direction, I can read about it and figure it out.
Thanks
AJ
yachtmd 08-21-2006, 07:23 PM dont waste your time with that Dinosaur, buy a viewsat
I had BlackBird when I started messing with FTA then a few Pansats now a few DN recievers and cards, im going to get a few viewsats to get my DN recievers and cards out of harms way for now, last I looked there wasent much BB support like bins and stuff, anyway good luck what ever U do
beehive21 08-21-2006, 07:28 PM Yup, the Blackbirds haven't been supported for some time now...time to move on. :(
brubkr 08-21-2006, 07:31 PM I've found the only thing that the Blackbirds are good for now, is setting up satellites. You can locate a signal and peak it in with them, but that's about it. I had two of them, I use one for installations, and my Rottweiller plays with the other one.
barabbas 08-22-2006, 05:42 AM Another receiver that had good support in the beginning.
I have to laugh when I read people are going to buy an
xxx receiver because of their good support. All receivers
have good support, in the beginning.
ajspawn79 08-22-2006, 07:39 AM Ok I think I got the message, :) I need to buy another box. Now tell me is it worth buying another box that will be obsolete, or should I go with a cable box descrambler.
Thank you,
AJ
jd1122 08-22-2006, 09:19 AM aj there are no guarentees with any box you buy, your best bet is to buy a viewsat, since they are running and easy to set up
ajspawn79 08-22-2006, 10:35 AM Well how about the fix from caveman that is posting in the files section of the blackbird. Does that work, has anyone tried it out.

tyrader2000 08-26-2006, 11:05 AM Right now, the only 2 things you can do with your blackbird is run it as a true fta for ku or c band, or do the jtag/groundwire coship bin workaround, and then it is only good for locals and you do not have auto roll. I have tried to "mix" some other files but no luck yet, (but no GLS either). You might see what you can decode from C band if you have the time or aim at g10 and get true FTA. I think you will need the 4.0 file since most of the factory ones did not have sats for NA. Later TY
alfredgrey 08-30-2006, 07:31 PM Is Black As A New File ?

Hey tyrader, where can I find the 4.0 and is there some info somewhere to find the g10 sat? Thanks,
GW--
