I am not exactly a newbie but I do appreciate the chance to say, I have enjoyed this forum very much. I never did any posting until the bashing got so bad. I did not see any reason for people to be so cruel to each other. It seems to have stoped and everyone can enjoy it again. I have always liked the humor in the forum. We all need a little laugh now and then. We will see the light of our hobby one day. I do believe. I would like to say hello to all the newbies and say welcome to our forum. We all are here to help you if we can.

Hello to all. Thank you for the use of your forums. I am new to testing Dish. Have been enjoying tv though, thanks to my buddy! I have a 301.013 that came with the rom 10 blue card. i have j-tagged but not vid mod yet. Have downloaded numerous files on the subject from other sources. Have seen so many different ways, so now I'm a little confused which way to go. I will search your site for help on this subject. FYI I have a friend who has a basement full of every kind of dish hardware, receivers, etc. Been in the business for years. Anything you might need, drop me a line!

Thanks again!

I was always a bit aprehensive about Dish when DTV was easy to hack.....I really like dish for its challenges. It is a bit more involved than DTV but thats the good part. It isnt that difficult once you get going.

Welcome to the world of Dish TV :D

Bobthetech
09-21-2004, 08:27 PM
Actually, I like the way Dish works a lot better than DTV. If a P-4 hack were here tomorrow, I wouldn't switch back. I like Dish too much for that. I have a subscription to Dish and we get quite a lot of channels. My wife watches the stuff she wants to watch, which isn't all that much anyway, and I have my receiver set up with a big HD TV which I don't really watch much of either. We are very happy with Dish Network and we have no intention of switching back to DTV.

I am not exactly a newbie. I am a Senior Member from another site since April. I have quite a few of IRD's 301.010's,2700's. I testing on Plastic. And enjoying watching tv. I do the best of my knowledge to help others, which that I like to do. I was looking for other site that may have different info and also learn more. I also have AVR6 board which that I haven't use it. I try to use it once but never got back to it because I couldn't understand how to get it to work. So, I kept on testing Plastic which it is easy for me to do.

Hi guys/gals,

I am totally new to testing sats. I used to test cable until Komca$t bought my cable company and went digital and start moving all the good channels to digital. :( So I went digital and as a bonus they baited me into trying cable high speed internet free for a few months and before I knew it I was hooked. :wow: Then they started sticking it to me; so I decided to test sats. but it was when HU was getting down. So I ended up with a few Dave IRDs and no way to test them, then I found out about FTA. I ordered a fortec from a site in Canada (xxx.loader101.xxx) to the tune of $335.00 US. Since may 2004, I am still waiting for it to be delivered since they don't respond to my e-mails. :grr: I finally bought one from a dealer in the US and been happy since then. :hat: Now the testing bug has bitten me I went and bought a 3900 and a 501 IRDs that I am testing with atmega and I am trying to read more on testing plastic and magic card. This is my journey into the testing world. I have found a lot of useful informations in this site and I wished that I've seen this site way before, I could have save some money and not get ripped off  .

Welcome oledog31...

we will begin by trying to teach an oledog new tricks. This is the welcome area not the asking for help area.

On the main forum page each forum section has a Title like "Dish Newbie" etc. Under each title it tells what that particular forum is for so everyone will have a pretty good idea where to post questions. Yours belongs in The Dish Newbie area.

We also have site rules which you will need to browse through so your stay here will be a pleasant one....

Again Welcome an enjoy the site :D

This is a post from Protech-equip. I was an avid member of this forum until I decided to damage the community and these very forums in several ways. One of these was by spreading unfounded rumours and lies about the admin here. Another was be editting hundreds of posts I made here with some useless text. The ironic thing is that I actually made a lot of money selling various pirate devices through this very website.

I could have easily chosen to email the admin and ask him to zero out the IP's or even delete my account but decided I would damage the forums and talk shit about the people here instead.

I should be ashamed of this but am likely not.

Hello to every one at this site. I am in awe at the good information I have come across here and have been able to make use of. I have been a C-band and KU-band tester for years but just recently have begun to test with the small dish. I have recently moved and had to leave the big ugly behind. I am also traveling more and often take the small dish with me where ever I go. This site has been a great learning experience for me. Thanks to you all.

Hi, to all just thought I'd say hello I have been a member of this site for a long time now but this is my very first post .

I have been testing since the H card days and last year when the HU card
died I made the change to charlie. Now I'm an FTA er I'll probably ride this wagon till the wheels fall off it as well. This has always been one of my favorite sites
I guess the reason for my lack of posts is the fact that I could find the info.
I needed by coming here and just reading ...no need to ask questions ....no need to go anywhere else ...most of the time it's here... just read.
And that brings me to saying this . I want to thank all the people who asked questions and especially those who gave good answers you helped more than
you know. and to the mods you guys do one hell of a job .....keep up the good work. Thanks Again...........lomac

I have a Pantec Ultra receiver with a RS-232 cable.
I downloaded the BL STS Updater v 1.4
I loaded the pantec-fortec vp3 the receiver displayed numbers from 0, 1, 2 and so on.
Then after it was done all I get is Night-rider style lighting across the display.
Help!!!!
Can someone walk me through step by step or direct me to a link that is step by step.
It's easy to you guys but I'm looking out the window tonight because I have no satellite.
Thanks and God Bless America

Bought a fortec ultra, and this site has helped me get tv up and running again. Hate cable and like to try programming since I was medically retired from the military.

Keep up the good work. :)

Hello all, First time posting here, finally decided to get verified. Visiting since 8/2005 - this stuff is really cool, when its working... I'm more a hardware geek. Fortec Lifetime Ultra - PS: its not so bad to just get Nasa TV!

I would like to thank you folks for your warm welcome, it is appreciated.
I am an old man, however I find satellite tv facinating.
I have been involved for a long time since we made spherical dishes out of wood! and the only satelite we could get was F3. Things have certainly changed dramatically since those days. However, I recall them fondly.
I am looking forward to furthering my knowledge on this forum by being in the company of such an illustrous group.
Stay safe and healthy.

just wanted to say hi to all and let you guys know here comes one more newbie. yes my coolsat is getting all the scramble channel thing, so i have been going around to varoious forums trying to "muddle" my way thru to a working coolsat!!! i should have done this sooner, but as we all know when the tv is not in the house people go stir crazy (me not included) so i have been trying to remedy this issue. I have 4 tvs in the house. 2 of the tvs run off of one dish and the other two off of another, but on the 2nd dish one of the receivers is my coolsat. so i can not get ahold of the guy who came and installed all this stuff, so i have been going nuts trying to figure this out. I had already been playing with the Lyngsat and learning how to read and use it so i thought what the heck, i can do this ?!?!?!?!?! Got my cable today so i can finally attempt this new bin thing.......wish me luck!!!!! your forum did help me to find the missing pieces of this puzzle. i hope
