View Full Version : Why I believe a fix is likely

There's been a lot of speculation out there regarding if this MAP dump is a lie or not.

Well, I've been watching the price of a Dreambox DM-500 on the dreamboxcanada website for a few weeks now.

It was at 289.99 CAD for a 'summer sale'. It was a great deal and so I was keeping an eye on it because I couldn't afford it right away. Also they had no other Dreamboxes in stock although they claimed to be selling 7020 and 7025 .

Well I go back on today (a day after the news about the MAP dump) and it's now 370 CAD for a DM-500 - no mention of summer sale anymore - and they have all sorts of 7020 and 7025 in stock now for regular price.

My guess is that they know a fix is imminent shortly and are bringing their prices back up to make a handsome profit once more instead of just trying to get rid of the stuff.

I may be wrong about this but i read someware that dreamboxes are not curently down. They are using some rom 102 or 103 emulator... I don't remember where i read that so I cant go back and make sure that it's correct.
On top of that, if you were a fta company and you knew it was it for fta(dn testing) you wouldnt just stop selling your boxes or make them 1/2 off. You would try to sell as meny for the same price.

Currently Dreamboxes are using a Rom 102 w/blocker and script in the card slot for FTA. The Dreambox uses an Image and an emulator for video, the emulator is down just like all FTA Boxes, I'm not sure who codes these but as a rule DM's usually were up and running pretty quick, but this new deal has everbody stumped. I'm considering a Rom102 but who knows how long these will be up.

I have the script, and files needed to use the Rom 102 card in the dreambox slot. I am going to be testing this theory soon. I have a rom 102 and programmer on order right now. The card is unlocked, and should be ready to program. So if I don't screw this up, I should be able to make this work in my dreambox. I will let everyone know after wednesday how this all worked out.

cardsharing w/ the dreambox is working rather well for DN. Note that it doesn't currently work for that 'other' N American provider.

As I posted elsewhere in this forum, you need to look for information on 'newcs'.

If you are going to use your DB as a 'client', you simply have to add 3 files into your /var/keys folder, and do a couple of edits to your camd_cfg and keylist.txt files. From that point, you edit in the server and account information in those new files you added, and restart your emu....voila. Setting your DB as a client takes all of 10 minutes.

If you are going to "serve to yourself" you need more stuff. You need a programmed rom 102 card, you need information from that card (the boxkeys), and then you need to decide where you are going to "serve" from. You can serve from a DB, or you can serve from an ISO cardreader that is attached to your PC.

If you are going to serve from your DB, you need to have an emu that includes "newCS".... and you will need to edit the newcs.xml to add your boxkeys (from the rom102 card), your DB IP, and the port#.... then in telnet you'd kill all active services, start newcs...then start evocamd.

If you are going to serve from your PC, you will need a cardshare program that includes the newCS.xml file -- and then your DBs can be set up as clients

How you set up your configuration is mostly dependent on your needs... are you just using 1 DB, are you wanting to serve to multiple DBs within your home network, are you wanting to serve to multiple DBs over the internet, are you going to be just a client on an internet cardshare.

I am only going to serve myself. I am going to continue using DSM 1.3, and I am using the New CS/evocamd 2.11 Emu. I believe the files are already included in the emu.

Well I'm here to tell you they are down...
Bev just whent totally black this afternoon...
And rom work only with DN not BEV so now we have to come up with a way to make that one work as well... That will take a lot of work...

Sylvie you sound very sweet so please edit out the B3V reference - a quick reading of the forum rules will fill you in as to why....

Right now I'm concerned with Dick. I will test the "Other" provider at another time.

Dreamboxes are only up and running using either a ISO programmer hooked to a "server" computer's com port with a Programmed Rom102 with current tiers and blocker or in the card slot of the dreambox. NewCS 1.17 is running on the computer or in the dreambox ./var/bin/ and the config file is in /var/tuxbox/config/newcs.xml and this has all the rules, config, users, etc.
And this all runs with in a network or over a network to someone else.

It's a good chore to setup and not for the average user but it is up and running.

Don't count on a cardless fix anytime soon. One of the leading or the leading dreambox seller in North America is now pushing a new fta receiver called TESsat Internet FTA on its dreambox site. It can work with card sharing, card & cardless. Easier to set up than programming a 102 rom card, which can be difficult if not experienced. The private forum says no cardless fix is imminent for the dream. Since these boxes can be used already for card sharing and 102 cards dont expect the manufacturer located in Germany to ante up any $$$$ for a fix. Change with the times or buy a VS.

why would you spend as much money on a VS -- and then be dependant on a group of buffoons to keep you up and running -- as you could to buy a rom 102 card, and share to your self, or with a group of friends (or a group of friends share the cost of a card).

next ecm -- viewscrap are right back to the same place they were for the whole month of july -- peeling onions

With my Dreambox, I ran out of onions to peel. You gotta have programmers, loaders, unlockers & cards. $500.00 is a good general figure to start off with. Cards are time bombs just waiting to explode. Every time you program one if you make just one little mistake your card can be ruined. I see too many with looped & locked out cards. I went with Neosat iPRo 1000. Easy to set up and currently working. Also it will work cardless if a solution comes out. The big diiference between the Dreambox and the Neosat is SUPPORT and for the last several weeks MONEY.

The buffoons are the only ones with a cardless fix; while most dreambox are collecting dust as door stops. If you want to test, don't limit yourself to one platform.
