My 6000 has always had a problem changing channels vol. etc. I have tried different remotes and they are consistent with the same problem. So I have to believe it is the STB itself that is the problem. I have to push the buttons multiple times to get the stb to change channels etc., and it doesnt matter how close to the box or angle I point at, still wont function right. Batteries are new etc. Is there any fix for the infered eye on the box? anyone else have this problem?

Marcsr: I have the exact same problem with my 6K. I have 2 other 4K's and support probably a dozen 5K's and none of the others has this issue. I've tried at least 4 other remotes on the 6K and still have that issue. It is either a weak receiver in the STB, or the freq is off between them. It gets frustrating, to the point of offering it up on Flea-bay, but I do love the channel guide........guess its a trade-off.

I thought it was just mine, I don't feel a lone anymore. Same here very frustrating, but u r right good unit, my 5000 and neusat have some issues so all is a trade off. Thanks for the reply

Have any of you that have this problem, tried moving closer to the receiver(STB), and trying the remote at different angles? What I mean is, get closer to the STB, (within 5 feet), with the remote.

Step #1:

Examine the LED on the end of the remote. Does it protrude all the way out of the case? If not, get another remote, or have someone fix it.

Step #2:

Point the remote at the receiver's IR window while standing about 45 deg. to the left, if that does not help, move to the right at about 45 deg., and try again. If both of these attempts fail, try the up-and-down angles. Try again by moving closer to the STB.

For some reason, some of the IR (INFRA-RED) sensors were not mounted correctly to be receptive through the front panel, due to lack of quality checks on the Mfg. line or whatever.

If you can use the remote successfully.....(with good batteries installed).......by changing the angle of incidence to the IR window, and get good results, then you may have to open the box and look at the positioning of the sensor mounted on the PCB (printed circuit board) in reference to the front panel window.

If you are not 'electronically', or 'mechanically' oriented, then have a 'Qualified Technician' look into your problem.

If this doesn't help.......I tried anyway. Maybe it will help someone.

Hey 9ball,
I've tried about everything you mentioned, and then some.
It doesn't work any better at 2 feet than 12. Angles make no difference. Other remotes are the same, ect, ect. I played with it a bit last night after I replied to Marcsrs' post and did notice one thing: If you pause a bit between keystrokes, it never fails to respond. That makes me think that somehow the firmware flash has a bug in it ( basic operating system) causing it to process commands to slowly, and therfore failing to "see" the second command. I dunno, as I said above, its frustrating, but still liveable.

Thanks for your suggestions ! :hat:
