I was just looking online at the Pansat 6000. It says that there are 2 common slots for DVB cards. Why would somone add DVB card to an FTA receiver with 2 tuners?

Thanks

with the correct software in the box you can use a subbed card to get your channels

I am newbie so bare with me.
I though that DVB cards are the PCI cards for computers that are like there own little satellite receiver? What is the benifit of adding one of these to a receiver that already has 2 tuners? I thought that a subbed card was reffered to as a smart card? or a 102?

Thanks

There are two open slots that you could install additional smart card readers or other CI type devices. The receiver alsa has a built in card reader, so you could use other type CI devices in the two open slots. I do not know of anyone that uses these slots in this receiver. The DVB term is just short for Digital Video Broadcast and does not mean a DVB PCI satellite card only. The site you were reading this info from would have been refering to a smart card, even thou they called it a DVB card.
