I just read that Dreambox has an HD FTA receiver now that's suppose to be on the market, model DM 7025. I haven't seen anything posted on the forums about it, unless I have over looked it. Anyone else confirm this?

Well first of all, it's cool that your stating interest in a dreambox. I can go on and on all day on how great this piece of equipment is. I purchased mine almost a year and a half ago, and I have not regretted my decision once. I have a DM7000, but I have also worked with the DM500, 7020, and have done some research on the 7025. The things that have improved were the stronger tuner for the dreambox 7020 over the 7000. The 7025 has dual tuner capabilities, so when you are recording one show, you can change to any channel on any transponder, and watch another show. T hat's really cool. But the way the software is all different also. Bang for the buck, the DM500 is the way to go.

My take on the 8000? Save your hard earned green for a while. Research. Find out what this box is about. Print out the manual and study it. Personally, I know there is alot of hype about all this high def. But honestly? there really isn't enough Channels availible through dick to really worry about it. You want high def, watch a DVD or something. I look at it like this. There is so much more to Testing FTA than high def. That is my 2 cents on the matter. Plus with all this known, the DM8000 is going to be big dollars. Probably the most for a DB today.

Hope this helps anyone.

Probably PBS.

Check this out:

"BSkyB announces Free-To-Air and High Definition ...Go backBSkyB announces Free-To-Air and High Definition Television initiatives" So I imagine they exist or will soon exist somewhere. Sounds from the link that you use a FTA receiver to watch SD and if you want HD you subscribe and use a card in your FTA box. Although these appear to be special FTA boxes with modems. I suspect you can use other FTA boxes. Europe has laws to force compatibility between receivers and CAMs.

And here is a European HD FTA available now:

Good to see these things starting to appear.

I have just received a DM500. I understand it works with a satellite connection via my modem. Can anyone give me information on how to set this up?...Where to download the set up programs etc.
