I just bought a Coolsat 6000. Apparently, there is an optional “Smart Card Reader” with CS6000. I have looked at it. I don’t see anything except an empty slot/space.
Does anybody know what is this “Smart Card Reader”? What can it do? Should I buy it separately and install it inside the unit?

I have the same one dude and first i thought it has a smart card reader but it doesnt you gota put one in there. It will cost round $70 nd easy to install but hey y you gota do that just hang round for lil while they shud b comming out with the fix.

personally Id like to get the smartcard reader to try it myself, if anyone has tried it let me know, does it support rom101? 102?. I'd like to find a reader first of course.. someone point a brother in the right direction :)

People, people, people, the smart card reader on the coolsats are only used to get one more thing. Porn, thats right good 'ol dirty XXX. It's for the Xtv BS. Thats the only thing that you can use it for. It's not compatible with and Dish cards. Never has been, and most likly never will be.

Thanks for everyone for the info. I am no expert in this. However, I personally believe we may see one day CS card reader be compatible with ROM102. Why not. If they do not come up with the fix, this will be the only way to keep the CS units useful.

In regard to watching xtv with the card reader. Can someone tell me how does it work. Where can you buy the reader and what satellite is broadcasting this.
