I need help, my coolsat 6000 receiver is damaged because I down loaded current bin files per the coolsat for dummies guide. I know I did not interupt the file download process. The seller reloaded the original firmware from factory, however the audio is damaged. It sounds like there some wire is unshielded with lots of static, picture is ok. After the reflashing process is there any files left in memory? How would the Coolsat repair in San Francisco be able to tell that unauthorized firmware damaged the audio on my receiver?Should I try to send it directly back the Coolsat repair in San Francisco any way?

installed with 2 others and multi-switch worked great for about 3 weeks then audio went dead if I turn volume up full on T.V and receiver i can hear audio faintly thru the static.I suspect the receiver itself. Can't find any info on repairs in Canada do I have to send to San Fran to get repaired? Let me know what you find out I don't really want to send that far as it will cost me about $50. to ship and i don't know if they will fix it under warranty. would appreciate hearing from anyone who has sent stuff back for repair before.

Hey Norm..if you go to this website http://www.coolsatcanada.com/ there is an email link there..send them an email requesting an RMAFORM in the subject line..they will send you one back (might take a day or 2) all the info is there..you send a money order for $19.99 for return shipping along with your box and RMAFORM..they will let you know if there are anyother costs. It goes to an address in Windsor, On

P.S make sure to flash your unit to the original 1.00 bin.

If you think the firmware had caused the damage to your CS, i would say
that is highly improbable. What usually causes audio amp to blow is some type
of voltage spike(transient) or incorrect connection to your receiver. If you want to minimize chance of being screwed by OEM, reflashing the receiver with the original STB file off coolsat site (#100).There is no way to prove that the firmware had caused the problem. However,I do have one question,
when reflashing the receiver(is the receiver off(rear switch)before plugging your rs-232 cable?)Trying to install the cable with power-on can damage the
the audio input. Also, shut the receiver off, when removing the same cable.
If this is your first RMA, they usually treat customers with respect.Good Luck.

Woofy and norm123 , if your receivers are less than one year old, then i would
recommend OEM repair centre. However there is a local repair shop in GTA
area.

multi-switch worked great for about 3 weeks then audio went dead

When switching between individual units, you are causing a voltage spike(I am
assuming it is a simple three way switch) which will cause your power amp
to overload and most likely blow one of the input diodes.Unless your switch
is of better quality using opto-coupler, I would refrain from using these switches in future. They have a bad history of damage.
