Do any receive HDTV? Thanks As of yet, there are no FTA boxes doing HD. I think the 6000 is a pretty neat looking box. I'm strongly considering it for my next. As for the coolest out there, from what I have read it is the Dreambox, but also one of the hardest to set up. Here is a recent thread on the topic - http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=52529 Always remember that these systems are only as good as the support. No support, no TV. Im Lost 04-27-2006, 07:57 PM .. outsider13 04-27-2006, 09:10 PM From someone that made the mistake of buying one ... the Pansat 6000 has almost no support, at the moment, it is sitting on the floor, connected to nothing, as the last bin file produced such poor picture quality, that we could not watch it. Thanks for the heads up! macguitarman 04-28-2006, 08:40 AM I have a 6000HXC. It has made some excellent PPV recordings for watching from the HD. The current bin has a freezing problem. I have a 2500A at my office and it's current bin is way more stable. I truly believe the 6000HXC will be fine once a good bin is developed. I like the ease of being able to change the bin for the 6000. My 2500A sits right next to the computer and is connected at all times for downloading new bins. For the 6000 I simply power it off and pull the HD. I run it into the next room where the computer is and connect the supplied USB cable from the computer to the drive and copy the latest bin into a folder on the drive. I do a "Hardware removal" on the computer to shut down the drive and disconnect it for it's trip back to the 6000. I pop it into the 6000 and flip the power switch back on. I go into the menu and into the HDD software and initialize the new bin. Once a bin is developed that will eliminate the freezing, this will be a great little box. As for HDTV, we're going to be facing the same bin problems with those new receivers that we are currently for the 6000. But I'm ready for the HDTV FTA. I'm currently subbed with a DishNetwork PVR921 HD receiver which is sharing the Dish 500 and DishPro Quad lnb that is connected to my 6000HXC. |
