Here is an outline of events that worked for me on the very first try so here goes:
1.) To install the image:
DM500 and DM7000> DreamUp - flash the erase image, then flash the Gemini image.
DM7020> Install the Gemini image through the web interface as usual.
Note: You can run Gemini on mutli boot (DM7000 & DM7020) with the factory image as the base flash image (my favorite) or run Gemini as your base "image in flash" and still run multi boot successfully just as before.
TIP: If you want to easily change your "image in flash" you can open FWP and go to Install an Image into Flash and drag and drop it there to ovewrite what ever your current base flash image is now (like maybe the factory image or an older image). No need to start over with DreamUp if you do it this way. Open FWP again and install the multi boot just as before and all of your images that are on your USB stick, CF card, or HD will be there ready to go.
2.) As soon as the image boots it may have a rolling screen and cannot view the Setup window. If it does hit the arrow three times (to put your DB into NTSC mode) and hit the OK button and it should stop rolling. If not just choose NTSC and then set the Language, Time and A/V settings to your liking. Don't worry about the DiSEqC switch settings now, you can do that after you send a channel list over. Get your network settings correct too.
3.) Go to Extra/Settings and hit the OK button. Scroll down to Satellite.xml Loader. Hit OK. Highlight North & South America and hit OK. You will see a list of NA sats all with a red dot next to them. Scroll down to each Sat that you want to view and hit the OK button to change the RED dot to a GREEN dot. When you have finished selecting sats hit the exit button. Hit the GREEN button to start the .xml file download. When it is done exit out.
4.) The very next thing to do is go to menu/setup/Blue - Panel/ Addons/download and install and hit the OK button and a download window will appear. It should be filled with all types of files that you can DL and install. If it is empty than you have a DB that isn't accessing the Internet, back out and do a hard reboot (unplug), then power it back on. If this doesn't solve the internet connection, then you have to reflash (start over). Inside of the download window choose cam and hit the OK button. Scroll down to Evocamd-1.07 - Complete and hit OK and yes to download and install the EMU. After that is done go back to the download window again and scroll down to keys, hit OK, and choose Evocamd Keys 13.11.05 and hit the OK button and install them (like before with the EMU). Not all of the files for autoroll are included in the outdated DL and you will need to upload the most current files manually (such as autoupadte and autoroll files). When it is finished I reccommend that you reboot the Dreambox.
5.) After the reboot you can now open DBE and send your favorite service list over and then set up your switch settings to match your own set up. You could opt to just scan the DISH and BEV channels instead if you like...but I say let's worry about that later. Let's watch TV first.
6.) Check to see that all of the needed files are in the var/keys folder. If not, open DCC and connect to the DB. Go to the var/keys folder (left window). In the right window of DCC locate the folder with the current key files and have it open. Have the DB's var/keys folder open in the left window. Since DCC has a hard time replacing files of the same name sometimes you need to delete (or rename with an added letter or number) each of the older matching files in the var/keys folder and then transfer the nine current files into the var/keys folder. Exit DCC when it is finished. Reboot the DB. The nine files that I sent over (that can be found in most EMU packs that include keys) are as follows:
1. Autoroll.key
2. Autoupdate.key
3. camd_cg
4. ignore.list
5. Keylist.txt
6. newcamd-client.txt
7. priority.list
8. replace.list
9. SoftCam.key
7.) When it boots up go to the Blue - Panel and at the top of the window change the Common Interface to Evocamd-1.07 then hit the green button to Activate the EMU. You should be now be able to watch TV.
8.) You can use the Blue - Panel to DL an NTSC skin to have your info windows centered properly on your TV screen. There is a whole section there just for NTSC skins.
To get rid of the Evocamd message at every channel change do this:
Connect to the DB and find the camd_cfg file in the var/keys folder. Right click it and choose to Edit the file. The section that you want to edit looks like this:
# On Screen Display for Multicam
# 00 No OSD (default)
# 01 display Smartcard messages, box IP required
# 02 display Smartcard messages new nhttpd format, box IP required
O: { 01 }
USER = root
PWD = dreambox
Change the 1 (highlighted here in red) to a zero so that it reads {00}. Go to the top left and save changes and exit. Restart your EMU
