I recently cleaned up my DSS Dish and Dual LNB setup by removing an older LNB that was connected using a dual LNB bracket to pick up the two birds in the sky 110/119. Note: all was working ok at the time prior to my clean-up.
The clean-up consisted of removing older cables, and applying silicone (dielectric compound) to the ends of each connection (4) to protect against moisture and rust. After ensuring that all was back to normal I went back down to the basement connected my Ariza 700 to the T.V.
After making the connection I noticed that the Ariza 700 was behaving funny. The unit did not maintain its power after turning it on, and eventually stopped powering up entirely. After a while it was once again working, however, I was no longer getting any signals to the unit. The signal strength is hovering at 30 or less and never any more. And, the quality signal is always 0.
I do have another FTA receiver that I used for testing. Once connected I did get signal strength pushing over 90%, and signal quality over 90%, so I do believe something is wrong with my Ariza 700 unit. With my two LNB's I have two cables entering the house, so I was able to test the connection from the old and new LNB's. Both are running exactly the same for the test unit, but the same poor signal strength and quality for the Ariza 700.
I went one step further and tested a SAT Finder directly from outside where the LNB cable connections enter my house. And, once again the clone receiver is getting signal (high tone), and the Ariza is getting nothing.
I've loaded the original 2k factory code once - which looped the receiver (never ending
Knight rider light). I then reloaded the latest bin files and things returned to normal. The receiver is working like it should - that is I do see the setup menu options and I do see the various transponder, etc. But I am unable to get a signal to make the connection.
So, my question to the community is - How can I test whether or not my unit SAT input is damaged or not? I hear of Jtag, but don't have the time to try to build one. Is the jtag an option that would bring something like my situation (possible dead input) to life?
My final option is contacting the Ariza folks to have my unit repaired.
Thanks for your time,
Mike:sad:
