Here is a GOOD place to start. Find you a tsop that matches the tsop version of your original tsop. Lets say you have a ccaa. You can write a ccja or ccba either to the receiver, providing you have a virgin eeprom. That can be made with flashedit. What I would really sugguest is if you have the original copi of the ird's tsop, just erase the tsop 2-3 times and write the original back to the box. I like to try and use the original or the exact same version (ie: if I have a ccba ...I find another ccba).
Now ....once you have written a known good tsop to the ird we are gonna force an update with the remote. With your remote press "MENU" "6" "3"..
(now ..this next step has to be done within a couple seconds of each other)
"INFO" right blue button then left blue button. This will bring up another screen normally unseen.
Now press the TV/VIDEO button near the top left. You now need to power the receiver OFF with the remote. DO NOT PRESS select...OK....or anything else. Power the receiver off.
If everything is done correctly the receiver should begin flashing the green light within 5-30 minutes. Drom there it will download the latest software revision and turn itself back on.
By the way ...SA30 is the correct sector to erase on the 4700/4900.
Something else you may want to check is the signal strength from the menu. Make sure you have signal. If the dish has been moved or there is a cable problem and there is low or no signal it will never updat.
Hope this helped out a little. Ya need anything else just ask.

couple things you might check, when you make a virgin eeprom you have to type your build in capital letters when the little box pops up in flashedit to name the build, small case letters won't be recognized and allow ird to update. The eeprom build when you name it also needs to match what the board sticker has on it and not the tsop. Also make sure you have -N and not -F following the build when you look in system info.

well, i couldnt force the update, so i left it flashed with an OLD tsop image and let it sit overnight without the card, seems to have fixed the problem. Something with the norsa rom10-102 was causeing the problem i think. It kept erroring "card not inserted properly" so i removed card until it updated. all seems fine now.:wow:

i had one 3900 and by mistake turned into bev long time ago. well long story short when brought back to DN i tried like 2 disfferent tsops and one might had been corrupted and didnt get signal at all. or update of ocurse and the other had signal but no update would follow. well i was ready to give up and got a 3rd tsop which worked like a charm. after erasing the proper sector SA30 the ird when connected to sat the LED should start blinking this means is succesfully updating. hope this helps some1. Peace
