View Full Version : Different remote codes for different CS5000's?

Is it possible to have 2 or more CS5000's see a remote and not get confused by a "foreign" CS5000 remote? That is, have one box recognize only one remote and another box reconize another remote?

It doesn't seem so from the User's Manual. What does everyone do; block the IR eye of all but one receiver? This seems rather annoying.

Does the 5000 use a different remote code than the 4000? If so, maybe there is hope for me by buying a 6000, instead of another 5000?

As far as I know, the Coolsats only supports one remote code. It would be better if it worked like my 4DTV receiver which supports 4 different ones. I think any device that uses a remote should support multiple codes. Sat receivers, vcrs, dvd players, etc. All should have a multiple remote code feature in my opinion.

Pity. It is as if they only want to sell you one receiver. I wondered why I saw a dealer bundling a Coolsat with a Viewsat. The remote issue would be one reason to buy two different brands of receivers.

I would much rather that Coolsat had spend effort to allow a user to marry a remote to a receiver than work on a universal remote.
