Hey all,

Just got a Coolsat5000 platinum.
It occurred to me after reading this post (http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=50002) that it might be wise to check-out the CS5000, as is, prior to setting it up for testing. I currently have Dtv, so would it be possible to switch out the receivers, leaving the dish pointed where it is (realizing the obvious), just to check it out? If so, what could I expect to see? If not, is there some other way of testing for a known good receiver?

The DTV 110 is different from the DISH 110. You could power it on, and plug it up to the tv with just the wires to see if it works. But You want have any channels. Don't be scared just do what you are suposed to and don't make any noob mistakes and you will be fine. Make sure that you screw in the cable that you use to program the box that way it doesn't accidently come out. To see if it's a good receiver just hok it up to the tv and plug it into the wall then see if you can access the menus and all that good stuff.

Thanks for the help Hawk, I hooked it up to the tv and can access menus. As for the Dtv110/Dish110 thingy, that's what I meant by "realizing the obvious", Thought I might be able to get signal strength tho. Didn't want to move the dish because it's attached to 2 other receivers and I've got a 90cm dish for the CS.

I have read the forums, already downloaded software and manuals. Just waiting for motor to arrive and getting itchy.

Cuban_TV: I did a search, but did not find an answer, might be newbie syndrome. I'd much rather find it myself then be told I should have. If you can produce something I could have found, I'll be happy to +rep you.

Hi there Sat,
Let me get this straight...you want to motorize a working Dave (DTV) dish and get it to hit 110 and 119 for Charlie (DishNet)?

LOL oops, missed that part!

Have you gotten the skew for the 90CM dish correct?
