We need more info before we can help you. What type of dish do you have? What type of lnb do you have? How many lnb's do you have? You can only get one bird per lnb. also and most important. DO NOT TALK ABOUT 91. You might want to edit that part.

i'm using the ordinary 18inch DTV dish...with the original LNB.. i just unscrewed it from the DTV IRD and hooking it straight to the coolsat 5000 without the diseqc.. and tried different settings.. what settings should i try?

Hey there,

LNB TYPE: Single or Legacy
LNB Frequency: 11250

Leave the rest off at first (diseqc, Legacy SW) see if you get quality. If not, put diseqc to 1.1 and put it on #1 to just see what happens.

Did you put 1.19 bin on it, then do a system reset, then turn everything on in options? Then do what I wrote above for your LNB, and after you have signal AND quality, exit out, do an autoscan with network and you should be ok!

Let us know how you do!

it's the factory single LNB that comes with the 18inch DTV system .. i have the 119 bin on.. i've done a factory reset.. then scanned only dave... comes up fine when coax is screwed into my DTV IRD... but nothing comes up when screwed into the coolsat 5000

I know it may seem odd, but make sure you are indeed on the 119 bird and not pointed to one of the other near by satellites. Not sure why you have scanned DAV* for FLA will not get d*TV. Also follow the suggestions already in this thread! And FYI, 91 sat is off limits on this site.
Just some thoughts in case!
Cheers and let us know what you find!

Hey, lol, I must have missed something there. You're trying to get Charlie Channels while pointed at Dave's bird??

Put the Coolsat on, Turn on beep with scan in options, have someone in front of the TV and go on your roof with your wrenches and slowly start tweaking the dish until you have quality. For some reason I thought you were pointed AT Echostar 119 correctly but you're not. Hook the RG6 cable directly from the LNB to the receiver, put your settings for diseq to OFF, LNB type to standard and Freq 11250 and you'll be up in no time.

:)

Let us know what happens!

I think he is trying to use one lnb to get 2 birds? He was talking about 119 and that other one. If so that is not possible.

Naaa bro, what the guy is doing is..he's pointing at DAVE's 119, NOT Charlie's 119. Same bird in the sky but different PART of the bird in the sky. There is Dave 119 West which is called 7S and then there is Charlie 119 which is called 7. Follow? He's not pointing at the CORRECT 119. LOL

That's what was confusing about his post.

Yeah! What got me when I reread his original post was that he was alternatively putting on a DAVE ird! That's when it hit me...holy crap lol the guy isn't on Echo 7, he's on Echo 7S!

I hope he did as I suggested and realigned his hardware. If so he'll be fine, he's close. LOL

YES. I swear I hope everyone who has a Dave ird reads this! The 119 that Dave uses is NOT the one Charlie uses. LOL

Talk about a lesson in troubleshooting!

Close...but no cigar!

Exactly! But...those of us who've had to DO all that roof work can form our own club with seminars about stuff like:

How to not fall off the roof in snow 101

What wrenches to bring 101

The merits of having a GOOD meter 101

We can discuss the merits of screaming at the dish and telling it...C'MON ALREADY!

LOL

With all the installs we do down here in the city, last spring I bought myself a Birddog Meter and MAN...let me tell you. Beats the HELL out of....UP and Down the ladder or screaming out the window!

LOL

I just quickscanned what was going on here...are you trying to get an indication of signal on 119? just looking at motor positioning?
If so please remember that there is NO TRANSPONDER #1 on 119....so if you are trying to find 119...be sure to look at a different transponder..

Good point Mike,

No, that's not it though. The guy left his Dave dish pointed as is, he took his Dave ird off the RG6 and put the Coolsat on it, went to Echostar 119 and did his settings but got nothing. Because...Dave's 119 is 7S, while Charlie's 119 is plain old 7. Same bird in the sky, different PART of the bird. He needs to move the dish to get OUR 119.

I tried to send a reply a while ago and I thought it went through but apparently not.
To the gentleman who is trying to find 119 you must remember that 119 does not have transponder 1 and my receivers default to transponder 1 when I am setting up my signal, if this is the way you are trying to aim the dish then you need to go to transponder 2 so you will have a signal to aim at.

Ok did not realize he was aimed at Dave's 119...sorry
