View Full Version : Verified working Viewsat satinfo files
Hondo 01-16-2006, 01:59 AM These files are confirmed working satinfo files for both the Viewsat VS2000 and Viewsat Extreme. The files are the work of Teachdivin from over at
F2ATV and there's one for just about every conceivable combination. This is excellent work on the part of teach and we all owe him a big "Attaboy" for the effort. Using these eliminates the channel listing errors (ie. Echo-001).
The file is a single RAR file that contains the individual satinfo files in zip format. If there is a sat combo that is not contained here let me know and I'll see if I can find it for you.
Read these instructions for using these files:
In order to use these satinfo files the entire archive must be decompressed using a .rar utility such as WinRar. Then the individual files inside the archive must be unzipped with a zip utility.
Use ONLY the satinfo file specific to your setup. For example if all you want is the 110 and 119 birds use only the teach 110+119 file.
Load the satinfo file into your Viewsat using the following procedure:
1) Turn Viewsat off by using the power switch in the back
2) Open Loader 2 and click "Open File"
3) Select the appropriate satinfo file from the archive where you downloaded and unzipped it
4) Click on that file and see that it loads in Loader 2 under satinfo.
5) Click on PC --> STB
6) Turn on the rear power switch to the Viewsat.
The file will automatically download to the box. Do NOT touch the Viewsat until the download is finished. The box will display "END" and the 0000 and reboot. Then it's ready to go.
PLEASE do not clog up this thread with posts that are NOT related to these satinfo files. Read and search to find an answer or open a thread specific to your problem. Thanks!
I've added the single file that contains all of the echostar satellites. For the majority of you the all-in-one file will be exactly what you need. Make sure to unrar it before putting it in Loader 2.
deres61 02-16-2006, 08:07 AM No, it is not. You do realize that you have to unzip the individual files from the master archive right?
:)
Just Unzipped them but look missing something no Readme.txt file or Explanation how to use it..??? or I'm dummy ??
Hondo 02-16-2006, 08:31 AM :)
Just Unzipped them but look missing something no Readme.txt file or Explanation how to use it..??? or I'm dummy ??
Not at all. I should have included a readme file.
What you need to do is pick the individual file in that archive that is specific to your setup. For example if you only want the 110 and 119 use the teach 110+119 satinfo file. Use Loader 2 to select that file (Open File) and then turn your Viewsat off in the back. Click on PC->STB and then flip the back switch to on. The file will automatically download. Do NOT touch the STB until it is finished and reboots. That's all there is to it.
karl123 02-24-2006, 06:05 AM I'm an FTA newbie who has just ordered a VS2000 Platinum. This post states "These files are confirmed working satinfo files for both the Viewsat VS2000 and Viewsat Extreme". No mention of Platinum.
Will I be needing different files?
Hondo 02-24-2006, 07:28 AM Nope..these work for all versions of Viewsat STB's.
Screamin-D 03-03-2006, 08:33 AM Just to understand better, if I'm hooked up to 110, 119 & 121, I would use the teach 12-22-05 91+110+119+121 satinfo.zip file and just ignore the SAT 91? I'm assuming I can't use the teach 01-13-06 110+119 satinfo.zip then the teach 01-13-06 121 satinfo.zip file afterwards (would the 2nd file overwrite the first one)?
Thanks.
Hondo 03-03-2006, 09:59 AM It won't hurt that the 91 is on there. It's just data for a bird that you won't use. You can add individual satinfo files but I'd stick with the single file.
Patricia Munroe 04-05-2006, 09:10 PM Hi sorry, I am kinda a newbie (as they call it too) - I've downloaded the satinfo files - but am not getting any information on my guide. Am I missing something?
Hondo 04-15-2006, 09:30 PM Sorry for the late reply...
Did you install the correct "teach" satinfo file for your setup? These files do work and should get you excellent guide performance on bins 1064 and higher.
topshelf22 04-15-2006, 09:48 PM try one of these..can't remember which one worked for me.

Need a little more information and we can get you going. What sats are you looking at? What equipment (dish and lnb type)? What settings do you have in the receiver? Just to mention a few. The 1072 will work fine and so will the 060510A(this is the latest bin). MAKE SURE IT'S FOR PLATINUM NOT EXTREME! You do not need a opkey file or channel file, and if you are looking 110/119 you won't need a sat file. Fill in the blanks and we can get you going.
jaggy27 05-24-2006, 08:32 AM Where can I get this latest bin "060510A(this is the latest bin)"?

doctorampvoncamp 05-26-2006, 02:19 AM Hello Everyone,
My first post, great site, many kind people offering great information.
I had the DirectTV, did a 30 trial, did not like it. So now I have this huge SAT antenna on my roof, the HD one with the three LNB's that is supposed to be the newest one they install. Can anyone tell me what the model number is on this new 3 gun unit?
I did some reading about the FTA units and I went with the Xtreme VS2000.
I would like to program the unit but I have a Apple/mac computer and the files are all for windows. I have the VPC a.k.a. Virtual PC program that works very well. Does anyone know if that plug that came with the VS2000 will plug into a G5 Apple Tower?
I have access to a Windows 98 computer, will that be better to work with?
Any help would be mighty kind.

Doc :) Hi not a Viewsat expert but familar with multiple FTA Receivers. If others have more knowledge they'll reply as well. Working backwards. Since you'll be reprograming software info unless you have a programer tech by your side go with the Window's based system. First make shur the system is up to date. That plug I assume is the rs232null modem cable wiil fit the Comp with Window's 98. Apple towers have Serial ports as well. RE model number on 3 Gun Dish yikes you ask for near imposible info. But when installed by DTV they would have supplied this info with the info reguarding Receiver Type ETC check the paper work, or the DTV web site using pictorials for model #'s.:) Hope this is of some help  and let me be the first to WELCOME you to TESTING :) PS: you have to reaim the dish you know  Some say thats the hardest. Not true. Once done, not testing more than one is the hardest:yes:
vovachka1 05-30-2006, 03:05 PM hi guys... i'm new to FTA. Just picked up a viewsat2000 premium loaded all the files.. up dated the key... and still get no picture. Could this because i'm going through a DP34 switch?
thanks

thanks
If you are only using one receiver, there is no need need for the DP34. Just use the diseqc that came with the unit. What sats are you looking at, and what are the settings in your antenae configuration? Just need a little more info to get you going.
Scooterace 05-30-2006, 04:03 PM I have a DP LNB... with a DP34 switch... i do have 3 dishnetwork recievers that i'm paying for right now, there for i do need the switch. I'm looking at 110,119,61.5
P.S. could you tell me exactly what files need to be loaded on VS2000 P in order for it to work..
Thanks a bunch
did you follow viewsat for dummies and load the factory file before loading any other file?
1st factory file
2nd DBPSW_060524A
3rd sat file
4th latest opkey
make sure to wait for all 0000 on viewsat after loading file before shutting it off.
Scoot
Raider51 05-30-2006, 04:04 PM No problem you will need 1072 or 060510a, qr 060524a all are good program files and you would need satinfo file for 110/119/61.5 found here http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=46520 satinfobankrar find the one for your sats and follow instructions. No other files are needed. Yes you definately do need the DP34. Then set the following settings in your receiver. Of course you will have to verify if if 119 is going into one on the dp34 and 110 into two on the dp34 and 61.5 into 3. This is important because this determines your diseqc settings in the receiver
Echo 7 119
LNB - ON
LNB TYPE-OCS-DP
LNB FREQ-11250
22KHZ - OFF
TP FREQ - 12224
DISEQC - Port1
Echo 6,8 110 Same Config Except Diseqc 2
ECHO 61.5 Same Config Except Diseqc 3
vovachka1 05-30-2006, 04:12 PM Thanks alot RAIDER... i'll let you know about the proggress... BTW i love this site!!! you guys are awsome!!

dssccw 05-31-2006, 04:43 PM The 060510a file works fine with me. However, there are number of channels (around 690) missing from sat 121. I downloaded the satinfo files and reprogram my receiver with 110+119+121+... sat file, and the missing channels are still missing. any idea.

Dimitri_XXX 06-01-2006, 02:36 AM At the risk of asking a really dumb question, I wonder if someone can help me.
I have Viewsat VS2000 Platinum. I got the .PGM file and .sat file from this thread http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=53154. I also followed the steps mentioned in that thread. However, when I hit the PC->STB button and then turn the receiver on nothing happens. :( That is, the program keeping on trying to resend that file (sitting at 0%) and the receiver display shows the channel number that it was last on.
I have only one com port so I set the Loader2 setting to COM1. (Note that is correct as if I set it to some other com port and exit the Loader2 and restart it then I get error stating "Com port open failed!").
Am I doing something wrong? Am I overlooking something very obvious.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
O.K.
Hope nobody gets mad for me answering your question. I am new at this too, but had the same problem. The only thing that helped me loading the file was installing it at my brother's computer which is actually older than mine. I heard that some of the newer PC's with the windows XP on it might cause the problem. However, make sure to try everything. Refer to my previous posts regarding the same problem----Com port open failed
Good luck!

Thanks for the information. But I have ViewSat 2000 Platinum, does anybody has the 110+119+121 sat file for platinum? I am missing some channels from 680 - 700 on echo 9.
rufryder 06-02-2006, 07:47 PM Try turning the receiver OFF and then turn it on when you are transferring or about to!

Quick question...
How do you go back to the old settings? I loaded sat file for 119, 110 and 91. I want to see Telestar 5 too now.
What file should I load to see the Telestar 5 sat too.
For now I have only 91,110 and 119 displaying. I tried loading 1072, but I can still see only 91, 110 and 119.
thanks for your help!

In the satinfobank.rar file on the first page of this thread. It's a compressed file of a whole bunch of different combinations - that one included.
:)
anessie7 06-12-2006, 01:04 PM if both the viewsat plat. and ext. are froze, how do you get them to reload any pgms or files? have factory default both a couple of times but nothing.

Thanks.

i was trying to find an updated satinfo file for 82,91,110,119,119k,121, 148 and intelsat 5.
I can't seem to find one an old one or an upgated oneanywhere.
wondering if you can help me or point me anywhere.
thanks ...tightlines
Hondo 06-16-2006, 10:34 AM I have never seen a dedicated satinfo file for the Globecast bird. My suggestion would be to use Lyngsat TP data and manually add it to your existing setup. Also there is nothingout (yet) for the new E* bird at 118.75. It too would have to manually added.

write the factory flash back to it then write 060607 to it and wait for the keys to roll or manually add the keys with the remote.
Hondo 06-17-2006, 01:32 AM Hit the power button on the remote or front panel. As stupid as it sounds that's what it is. The new bin turns the box off after flashing.

The answers are being developed as we speak. The great work is no trivial task,
to counter the technical trickery of the (large money makers) nice folks who gives us TV. The hard working programmers who are giving us the fixes,
are just like you and me. They are probably stressed out like the rest of us.
Code takes time. Reverse engineering and fixing take longer. This is part
fun for the solution and tough to get answers, there is no look up text book!
Most of the time there's nothing on anyways, unless your into re-runs and TV series :) Get another Hobby, learn a new skill,
i am still waiting for the new files of vs2000...its not working at all...:( ..can anybody tell when it is gonna come..??

Viewsat Receiver's can make your satinfo file for you - Here is how!!!!
________________________________________
I was questioning, on this or another site, what or how we know to having a good satinfo file. Well after I took my own advice today, having some time to kill I started reading and discovered a post that blew me away.
I've tested the method as discussed below and as reported it works perfectly. Credit goes to member "Skylooker" of another site for this fantastic tip on how to! Thanks Skylooker!!!
"Before a scan, go to edit satellite settings and delete all TPs except for TP1 for each sat which is 12224 for 110, 91, and 82 and 12239 for 119. Make sue the settings for that single TP are correct and then perform a regular scan. In the process, the receiver will automatically locate all TPs whether they cover your geographic area or not. I've done it this way every single time and my scans are flawless no matter which PGM file I'm using."
This technique works perfectly every time. The problems reported here are not related to this procedure. I have done this procedure over and over again and it always comes up perfectly.
Delete all TP's except the following corresponding spot beams then do a channel scan within the same installation screen by pressing okay:
110 - Start scan at 12224 deleting all others
119 - Start scan at 12239 deleting all others
91 - Start scan at 12224 deleting all others
82 - Start scan at 12224 deleting all others
61.5 - Start scan at 12297 deleting all others
F3 is the delete button.
Just wanted to add that when I scan, I turn the power off to all other LNB's except the one I am scanning. Make sure you turn them all back on once complete!

You don't need sat file, you can just add the new sat from you remote:

setwire 09-04-2006, 12:52 AM any one has new sat file for.. 61.5, 81, 92, 110 , 119, and T-5
You don't need sat info file for these sats.
Just scroll through your sats till you find each of them.
These sats are in the list of sats in the latest bin.
thuamt 09-08-2006, 06:39 PM I have the same problem. I uploaded 121 satinfo file. Now I want to scan
sat 82 file, but I cant see sat 82 in the menu. How can I do this
thuamt 09-08-2006, 07:17 PM Can you please find a satinfo file for 110 +119+121+82
Thank you
setwire 09-08-2006, 11:00 PM Can you please find a satinfo file for 110 +119+121+82
Thank you
Just scroll through the sats until you find the sats you want and scan.
ALL the sats are in your current bin.
You do not and I repeat DO Not need a Satinfo file for a Viewsat Receiver.
If you load a Satinfo file on your viewsat you are basically screwing up your receiver.
Who in the hell ever thought about making up a satinfo file for a viewsat receiver,
Leave your Viewsat with the satinfo file that is on it from the factory.
All the sats are in the factory bin.
xky11 09-08-2006, 11:16 PM then again the sat file in the VS is not so accurate thefore more then one scan is needed to get all channels, if the most youll get them iv'e learned that the best wayto get all channels is to arase all tP's exept the first one which is 12224 i believe in 110 and 119 make sure you set the antenna first then tp update and all that very important to have the lnb type to standard oscp will give you some channels not all even on scan. set it to standard and then scan your sats 110/119 you will get the best scan after doing this. good luck all
thuamt 09-09-2006, 05:32 AM I already put 121 satinfo file. How can I now change to the orginal satinfo file came with the bin. Thank you
8701michael 09-09-2006, 11:58 PM I already put 121 satinfo file. How can I now change to the orginal satinfo file came with the bin. Thank you
Just do a factory restore and flash the working bin file.
crazy4sats 09-10-2006, 08:52 AM I am getting a ViewSat soon and want to be ready to light it up. I noticed Opkey files which are supposed to have the keys for the box. Are these needed since the last ECM or do I just use the teach and pgm files here? Thanks for sharing!

If Dn change the keys, then OpKey is out off date. Just load you VS with later PGM, after set up & scan, the key will auto itself, just take about 1 to 2 minutes.
jd1122 09-10-2006, 11:34 AM setwire not to disrespect you but if you use the correct sat file it will not screw up your receiver, i have done 10 installs in the last two weeks and it actually helps to just load the sat file that you are useing on each set up, i use teach's sat files[06/06, not the newest one from 08/31]. the only problem i heard of was with teach's newest sat file release, each one i set up had different sat combos and it was a breeze to set up, like i said i mean no disrespect to you but i think you are wrong for stateing that the correct sat file will hurt your receiver.

No offence taken
I have realized that the Viewsat imported into Canada Have all the sats installed in the factory bin. Never saw any reason for Sat info file.
I have since very recently realized that probably for legal reasons the Viewsat Imported into USA have no DN Sats included in the bin loaded from the factory, so hence the need for Sat info files for USA bought Viewsat receivers.
Cheers
Rob
i may be wrong but i thought this was a file section not a discussion forum
goheels 09-23-2006, 07:58 AM Well I still don't see what this satinfo file will achive with the new binary file. The file already is setup. I was looking at it to see if I could get Leo back on the unmentionable bird at 515 but since it is dated to Jan 06 I don't think it would help.
heyitsvu 09-25-2006, 03:42 AM hey guys, i just installed the new pgm file and sat file. i've read the instructions on pg 1, but i still cant seem to get the recieve guide to work. could any of you guys help me out.
thanks alot in advance. im a newbie at this so all help is appreciated.
babooji 11-17-2006, 10:08 PM These files are confirmed working satinfo files for both the Viewsat VS2000 and Viewsat Extreme.
Make sure to unrar it before putting it in Loader 2.
u guys r the best can't ask for more thanx a lot

Forget about loading channels list on Viewsats.
As posted here many many many times---Channels list do nothing but screw up Viewsat Receivers.
Load pgm file and sat info file and scan your channels using F1 scan.
You also DO NOT need opkey hex as the latest bin autorolls fine.
Just make sure you have autoroll function and autoTP function turned ON
Tune in a channel and let the keys roll and all will be well.

Bridgettez 01-02-2007, 01:41 PM Hey Hondo. Thanks for helping us newbies. I have a question. Most of my channels are spanish. (Viewsat extreme) I used Teach's virgin bin. I cannot reset to English. My programming already says English. My remote control has been wonky lately. the SAT light will hang and not let the remote work. I have changed the batteries. Still happens. Is this a satt problem or has this thing been dropped on it's head too many times?
Thanks for the great bins and advise. The new keys(Pgm) come to this site so fast after a hit, that you here at this site are amazing. !!

I would say your remote control is due for a cleaning.
Probably too many things have been spilled on it.
You may have spilled something on your remote that is affecting the buttons that control your receiver.
Pop your remote open by prying the side seams with a dull knife.
Clean the rubber pad with soap and water and brush.
Clean the board pads with alcohol and Q Tip.
Dry both pieces with cotton cloth, reassemble and see if that fixes your problem.
Cheers

Do I need these files for my initial setup of viewsat pvr7000 ?
Hondo 01-07-2007, 12:18 AM No...the PVR 7000 will work fine on it's default satinfo file as long as you don't use the 105 or 121 satellites.
Hondo 01-07-2007, 12:20 AM Do you have any sat files for anything besides DN? There is alot more out there than that, ie. 72,74 97 etc.
Unforunately not. The satinfo files were mde only for the mainstream satellites. However if you blind scan those birds you should be able to successfully scan those birds.

Totally useless if one also wants to watch real FTA. I wouldn't want that to be the sat list on my receiver.

bif_fokker 02-12-2008, 06:17 PM Followed the instructions as posted, used WinRar to unzip the archive file and then unzipped the appropriate satellite combination (110 & 119) in my case. Used Loader 2 to open the file which opened under 'Sat or TP' section of loader 2. Clicked on 'PC to STB', ZMODEM opened up and then I turned my receiver back on using the switch on the back. The download was almost instantaneous I thought something had gone wrong. Waited for the 0000 reset and boot then plugged everything back in again and turned on the received using the switch at the back. Turned the received on using the front on/off button and waited 15 minutes. Autoroll Processing message was all I got. Left it on for an hour but still no change. Tried to download the file again but still received the autoroll process message. Today I downloaded the new fix (080211X) for my Viewsat Extreme VS2000 and am still getting the autoroll processing message. Have tried to download the factory bin and then load the new fix but still the same. Can anyone tell me if I've done something incorrectly or has anyone else run into the same problem?
Thanks

You have hijack the thread
bif_fokker and to all other that posted in here to ask question, if you post in the proper forums, and I thing you will be get better responding to you question, if you post in here, no one will read you question, because no one read or care of Verified working Viewsat satinfo files.

These files are confirmed working satinfo files for both the Viewsat VS2000 and Viewsat Extreme.

Yamaira18 05-16-2008, 04:44 PM Hello,
I know that this was posted a while ago but I would like to use it since I am missing my favorite channels. I am currently only using echostar 110. How do I know which other ones I can use (especially w/o doubles). Once I upload the sat file do I auto rescan? Do I scan one bird at a time or...? Thanks. I'm a newbie.
