View Full Version : Problem with 119 (Coolsat 5000)

I've been browsing this forum and I wasn't able to find a solution for the problem I'm having. I just picked up a 5000 today and am replacing a bev 3100 (for dish) with it. I've flashed it with the new bin and loaded a channel list onto it. The problem is that I only get channels from 110. When I go into the dish settings, the only satellite that pops up in the upper right corner is 110W. I'm using an older setup - 2 dishes, 1 pointed to each bird. It was working on the old receiver (while that was up heh). I didn't do the installation myself, but I think we're using an SW21 switch to combine the signals from both birds. From what I can gather from some of the posts here, here's what I have in my settings:

110W:
LNB Power: On
LNB Type: I've tried both Single and Legacy Twin LNB1 and 2
LNB Freq: 11.250
22KHz: Off
DiSEqC: Off
Legacy SW: SW21 Dish 2

119W:
LNB Power: On
LNB Type: Tried Single and Legacy Twin LNB1 and 2 (had it on 2 if 110 was on 1 and vice versa)
LNB Freq: 11.250
22KHz: Off
DiSEqC: Off
Legacy SW: SW21 Dish 1 (tried 2 as well)

Basically, 110 is detected all the time, but never 119. I've been fiddling with the settings for about an hour or so now. The problem might be with the switch/dish itself I suppose. I noticed that on either bird if I choose SW21 Dish 1 I get about 82% signal level, but the quality is under 10%. For giggles I tried the SW42 Dish 1 and got great signal and quality, but it again detected 110 and not 119. The fact that I'm getting a poor signal quality on SW21 Dish 1 suggests that the problem is likely up on the roof, but I'd like to know for sure. Any help you can give would be most appreciated!

You need a diseqc switch for it to work. 110 on lnb1 and 119 on lnb 2. Diseqc switch set to on and committed to 1 for 110 and 2 for 119. Won't work with sw21

just set it to 119-sw21 dish one, 110-sw21 dish two,
110 will show a strong signal,
119 will be red,
don't worry about 119, just watch TV,
119 never does show a green signal when its set right,
I've did about 40 coolsats, they all did the same way

What sort of readings are you getting in the RED?
I don't want to knock myself out trying to get green. My readings were only level 86
quality 26
from what i read you will not be able to get the channels if your in the red zone.
You are still able to receive all channels on 119 bird?
Thanks

119 stays in the red with low readings, Are you getting TV on the 119 channels? If you are don't worry about and watch TV

read the guide , what i believe to be happening in your situation is your locked onto a dead transponder by default, the guide explaines how to delete the original ( dead tp) and will take 2 as 1 by default as you delete it

hope that makes some sense to you

read the guide fta file section // coolsat files

good luck:)

Thanks for the input all. After I posted (naturally lol), I was getting TV from 119 and it worked for most of the night but then I was informed that it was down. At first I thought the whole thing was down, but then I thought that it was just 119. I just got home from work and checked and sure enough, just getting TV from 110. After reading the guide in the forum, I saw the little section about the transponder. Well, just deleting TP 1 on 119 didn't do the trick, so I went through the frequencies one by one (not deleting them, but selecting them). Finally I hit one that put 119 into the green, with signal and quality in the 90s. I hit Scan on it then tested it, now all seems to be well. I think it's on TP 5 right now. I didn't touch the other settings. Looks like all is well now. Thanks again everyone!
