Recently bought a Pansat 3500s and have everything working just fine with the newest bin here. I have it connected to my LCD TV through the component cables but don't receive any closed captioning in any channel.

I have tried switching the captioning ON/OFF in the Pansat, but have not had any luck.

Could it be that the bin does not allow CC to take place?

Thanks for your help,
djfrankie

It works fine on my 2700, I do not know about the 3500 but with the 2700 you need to enable CC on both the Pansat and the TV.

Good Luck!

Hi!
Just make sure that u connect the 3500 to your lcd tv with s-vhs and not component because some lcds can't display CC with the component. Good luck:lol:

I also have a dvd player going into the LCD tv with components and that works fine. I do have to select CC in the DVD player since the tv does not give me the option of CC when using components. However, when I select CC "on" in the Pansat it does not work.

Any ideas?

hehe i don't know what are u talking about because CC on the dvd = not the same as on the TV. If u enable CC on the dvd player then it will display on the tv no matter what, even ur tv doesn't support CC. The CC on the TV or LCD is another thing, u must enable it via both by the 3500 and ur lcd tv. Just give it a try with s-vhs and then tell me if that works. Or u can give me your lcd model so I can tell u more about the CC.

If I connect the Pansat receiver via s-vhs I do get the option for CC on my tv. If I hook it up via components, whether it is the dvd player or Pansat, I no longer get the CC option in my TV menu. When connecting via components I don't get the option to turn on CC on the tv's menu so I usually turn on the CC via the unit providing the signal (dvd player, Pansat). I get CC fine with any dvd player if using component cables, but I don't get CC when using the Pansat 3500s.
Let me know if this is clearer to understand now.

LCD Monitor model:
Westinghouse LTV-32w1

Thanks again,

Ok do u still have the manual of your tv? if not then go here hxxp://www.westinghousedigital.com/support/downloads/uMan/27w2-32w1uMan.pdf
Look at the 19th page, look like CC works well event with component output so I have nothing more to say if u can't get the closed caption on the channel edit menu. Good luck :D

I do have the manual, but is very vague about this as you can see. Anyways, thanks for the help. I guess no one else is using the components out in their Pansat 3500s box.
