The file located in the download section works great !!! You can load to your BB with the serial cable if you have one of the old PFF files or ufree files already on your BB. If you get four dashes on the display when you reboot, you will have to ground pin 5 on the 74HC42 chip on boot up to get it to work. Remove the ground after the BB boots, and use the on/off button of your remote to turn the BB on. You should see a 130 on the display. Use the remote menu button to set up your satellite and scan channels. Watch TV !!!

This procedure works great for BB units with the MX chip. I have not tested other units. It is my understanding that there isn't a fix for the Atmel chip units yet.

Remember - if you turn the unit off using the back switch, you will have to ground the pin and set everything up again. Use the on/off button on the remote and it works fine. The bird's flying again !!!!!!!!!!!

Keep your jtag handy if necessary. Some have gotten an ERR 4 loading the file and you will have to jtag the unit if that happens.

Good luck !!!!!!!!!!

Kookie:

As far as I have been able to find out, there is no BB fix for the Atmel chip units yet. The Intel & MX work with the current fix and grounding pin 5 or R29.

I hope this helps.

I've got 3 birds but one is stuck in GLS mode. I put the coship on it (all 3 intel chip birds) and got error 4, then gls. I tried to JTAG it back but no luck. Any ideas, suggestions. The other 2 are back to stock FTA until I can get this one working, don't want a bunch of dead birds. Thanks. Ty

David:

Here is a step by step of what I did with my MX chip bird:

1) I jtagged it back to a PFF 7.02 file from Jtag Tools. I turned it off with the switch on the back and turned it back on and it booted to channel 1.

2) I hooked up the seriaa cable and used PFF Link 1.0 , upgrade bootloader and loaded the BB N2 Fix. It went through the process and finished with "GOOD" on the display. I switched it off with the switch on the back. I then unhooked the serial cable.

3) I took a needle and some wire and grounded pin 5 on the 74HC42 chip and switched the back switch to turn the receiver on. The display flashes to 4 dashes (----) and then to 0:00. I then removed the ground.

4) I used the remote control to turn the receiver on. It came on with a screen that says "LOGIX" and the display shows channel 130. I used the remote and menus to set up my dish and the scan the channels and it has been working great ever since.

I hope this helps. The ground is removed as soon as the receiver boots. If not done correctly, the front display will only show 4 dashes and nothing works until you tun it off and back on again with the rear switch while grounding the pin.

It is somewhat of a pain but it does work once you get it right.

I hope this helps you.

Ty:

I don't blame you about the other birds. Which chip does the GLS unit have? Is it an MX unit or an Intel? Everyone says that there is no fix for the Atmel chip units so far. I just posted my step by step procedure for my MX unit. I have done it twice so far and it worked both times.

eet, thanks. They all have the intel chips but my major problem with the one bird is that I can't get rid of the GLS. I have done it in the past but for some reason this time I can't get it to boot up. Wall will get me a red dot and 2 dashes. I can use Jkeys and follow all the steps and try to load but after I get all put in and shut down, remove jtag and then turn the bird back on all I have is the green eye. I've tried to Jtag in the factory 5.01 file and same result. THis all happened after I tried the coship bin. I had and error 4, then it went GLS and has been stuck there since. I do have 2 sets of "chips" ( from the first bomb attack) so I might have to use one of them to get this running. Any tricks or loaders out there that can save me the time of rechipping are welcomed. After that I think I will wait for a tested bin to load. I also have 3 DVB card setups so my viewing is not effected but I do want to get this bird running. Thanks again, TY

I put the channel edit file in the FTA file section. See if it is the one you need.

Ty:

I hate that about the GLS unit. I don't have a clue as to the problem. Did the coship bin ever work on your receiver? I am like you. I have a DVB card running fine but it was a really great feeling to get the BB flying again. I have learned to edit the BB file with new keys, etc. so it is challenging to keep it going - especially since most people said the BBs would never be more than expensive door stops when N2 came along.
