I am having a problem downloading the bin file into my Ariza 700 receiver. I keep getting the error message "Flash Update Fail". I changed the cable that I am using but still getting the same problem. I tried loading the Factory Flash bin, still the same problem. I tried loading the "AR700_255 CH bug fix" bin file that I downloaded off the files section on this site and still getting the same problem. The loader that I am using is called "v4.03_051005" that I also got from the files section on this site. You help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
By the way, I tried the same thing with my Fortec reciever, but using the fortec loader and the fortec bin file instead and I also got the same error. I even tried doing it 2 different computers just to make sure that the com port is working fine.

Okay here's what I did:
I tried connected the receiver directly to the computer using the cable that came with the Ariza receiver and it worked. This is really strange, when I used the cable that came with the Fortec receiver to connect the Ariza to the computer I kept getting an error. I also had the same problem when I was connecting the Fortec receiver to the computer using the Ariza cable. It doesn't make much sense to me because both cables are com port cables. Anwyays, I just wanted people who run into the same problem to know what to do. Thanks.

Does one use a straight thru cable and the other a null modem cable. I know my ariza 400/500 uses a null modem cable. That would explain why the cable works with one and not the other.

argos is all over it. it is a null modem cable used on the ariza 700. also is a strt thru on the fortec as far s ive heard. dont have the fortec to verifybut i would suggest using the cable that comes with the reciever. if that fixes is then you could plug the fortec cable(straight through cable) to your pc and then when u use the fortec its ready to program. then with a female to female adaptor you could plug the ariza cable(null modem cable) into the fortec and program. this is nice because you dont have to switch cables on yoaur pc all the time.hope that helps.

The Fortec uses a straight DB9 Female ends cable...the Ariza use the null modem with crossover on pins 2/3..they are not interchangeable...U MUST use the correct cable for your receiver...they do sell an adapter to convert one cable to the other..
"Flash failed" most of the time is due to wrong or defective cable or serial port (try other serial ports)..many times a firewall will cause problems too,so disable it...I have been told also that windows 2000 is an issue and cannot accept a flash but I cannot confirm that..again 99% of the time its cable or serial port related.. U have tried on 2 different computers but with a fortec and wrong cable for the fortec,so U didn't actually eliminate the serial port issue either... I would think its the cable, serial port or firewall...please report back your results and fix,as I am very curious about this windows 2000 OS theory ( if thats what U happen to be using)..

I would like to thank everybody for their help and the useful information provided. Now it makes sense why I was getting the error. It just didn't make sense to me at the begining becuase both cable looked the same. I guess I will to use the cable that comes with the receiver from now on. I am using Windows XP. Thanks again.

U CANNOT tell the difference in the cables...they look identical...U would have to tear the cable apart to see the difference..on ocassion, the dealers will send a defective or sometimes even the wrong cable...so keep that in mind too..try your received ariza cable on various comports with the firewall off...and if U do have another computer try it on that computer also., the same way!..then U have eliminated just about everything, and if still not working, then I would say its a bad or defective cable...thats presuming U do know how to flash a bin and your receiver is NOT defective...also some bins are "sensitive" to certain uploaders also..and U might even have to try other uploaders software..

Mine did the same for the fist time. I just loaded the new bin file aa-1 309 without the factory flash and it seams to work but sometimes I get the message scrambled channel or data is updating. I just change the channel then back to the one I was watching and it seams to work for now, but I do hope somebody can help me so it works better.
