Hello there guys. After researching on FTA (specially in this forum) I decided to buy by first receiver (3500S) which arrived few days back. I have a 18' dtv dish with a single LNB pointing to 110 bird. I flashed it with 120 bin file without any problem. I connected everyting and started with the settings of the ird. I setup the antenna with :
Satellite: ... (110)
Lnb type-Standard
Lo freq-11250
22khz-OFF
DiseqC-OFF ---> Using a direct connection. No SW
Skew: O
TP: Used the default option
Positioner-Disable.
The LEVEL bar shows 80% but the Quality nothing. I tried moving the dish a little bit but nothing. So I decided to get those Satellite finders (<15 bucks) and even if get the max. strengh in the finder; the Quality bar still shows nothing.
Just in case I flashed with the 122 bin today but the same.
So I don't know what I'm doing wrong...am I missing something??? :(
Does anybody had the same problem in a 3500S Pansat? any suggestions....

I think there is not thing wrong with your receiver, You just have to hit the dishnet 110, so you can get the quality level.

binxs mas521ca is right. It reads like your receiver setting are correct. Now aiming your dish is the next problem. I assoom your a DTV servivor, so if you start at dtv's setting stand behind the dish rotate to your right. you'll get signal level. But you'll have to fine tune with minor adjustments to hight then width. thats where 1 watching the tv screne and yelling OK with you reading the meter comes in. Remember the Pansat's slow to respond to change so all adjustments must be waited for Pansat responce not yours. Hope this helps. Post your sucess so others learn

If you updated the Flash before aiming the dish, you dont have the aiming feature in the original flash. It helps a lot because you get a beeping signal to fine tune the setting. If you backed up the original flash you may want to restore it for dish pointing and then flash with the latest BIN once it is aimed optimally. If you didnt back it up then I am not sure how you can get another copy. I have a back-up from mine and it is just a few weeks old that I could pass on.

You saved my thanksgiving day scugog!!!!! That was the problem. Today, while my wife was cooking the turkey I decided to try your suggestion. I had a backup of the original flash so I just flashed it back; realign the dish again (working in my roof with wind chills of 8 F....brrrr :barf: ....that is another story) and finally the signal bar was at 85%...:wow: .
So after that; I just flash it with bin 22 and did a scan, then set it to default keys....and finally my receiver was getting channels
I guess this is a problem only in new 3500s because I wasn't able to see any other thread with this problem. I'll create a new thread with all the installation details that I did for my new 3500s so hopefully it will help somebody else. I really appreciate the help of eveybody on this forum    ....and a special thanks to Scugog (and is not because today is Thanksgivingperson :) ).

Actually, I updated to 122 before I pointed my antenna and got a very quick response as far as quality. It was very cold for me too (around 20F) and I was doing it by myself (my TV was very far away - I had to go through a door and walk at least 30 feet). Thank goodness the 3500 has a fast response time to antenna pointing. Within 5 minutes I was able to get it to 85% signal and 99% quality. Afterwards, to test the responsiveness of the 3500, I swung the dish all the way to the west and swung it back by large increments and still got a very fast quality reading for bird 110. This is amazing compared to the old days when it took me a week to get Galaxy 10R on a 30" dish (although this was a weaker, linear signal) and an old FTA receiver.

Later I set up a poor man's dish and got bird 119 as well. The Sirius radio channels are awesome! It comes with a classical voice channel!!! :D
