Just DL the file and tested and it works fine for me.

DL again. You must have had a problem with the file when you DL it.

Or upgrade your winzip.

The loader2 contain the zmodem.dll file, when you open the lader2 in rar file, just to make sure unrar all file, not selecting file.

make a new folder, name it whatever you want[viewsat extreme] and put the loader winrar file in that folder and right click over it and choose extract here, you should have the loader, the zmodem32 dll file and loader user guide, the dll file has to be in the same folder for the loader to work.

Well, Loader 2 unzipped perfectly, modem extension is there... it opened the viewsat platinum bin file perfectly... I followed the instructions for Platinum... hit the pc to stb button, plug in the receiver... yet download does not start. No matter what I do.

I checked and double checked, ports, cable, conecction... I'm no expert, but I have done this with my receivers for 2 years now.. never encountering this sort of unexplained failure... anyone encounter that?... or knows how to deal with it?

Ok... this is a pointer for those experiencing the same problem... I have used the same cable from PC to STB on my last 2 receivers (Quantum and Pansat 2700) it's a radioshack one... just for kicks I unwrappedf the cable of the Viewsat it's the exact same cable... but it worked.

I tested the radioshack cable on another receiver and it worked...

So USE THE CABLE that comes in the box with the VIEWSAT it is not apparent but there is a diffrence.

The Z Modem DLL should came with Loader2, just make sure you unzip into the same folder as the Loader2.

You also need the PGM file, Go to ViewSat forums, look and read all the sticky post on the top, it has all informations you need.

Must try to load the updated prog. upload-1160526452-PFTAUSW_061009A. its work for me

ok what is the dif between the 1.1 and 2.0 loader the .pdf file says exactly the same thing and it seems to work the same way :blink:

With 2.0 you can load all the files without rebooting the reciever. With 1.0 you had to load one file at a time and reboot each time.

If you are openning Loader2 without receiver connect to PC you will get COM PORT OPEN FAIL error.

With Receiver Power off, connect receiver to PC, Open loader, open file you want to load, click PC to STB, power up receiver.

I actually did it from USB to begin with, but got curious about this file so I tried it. I finally got it to load the file PC>STB after finding out the receiver has to be powered down first. However I can't get anything saved back, STB>PC. It starts out status sending ZRINIT, then I get a status bad ZSINIT frame type 255 ...

Is there another secret to this? or does this option work? I'd like to save my channel lists and stuff if I could. This is a Veiwsat Ultra, VS2000. I'm also using an extension serial cable, but figured it was ok since it does the PC>STB. Other than this little quirk I love this reciever :)

first of all you are not stupid you need a loader for all viewsats except the vs ultra the ultra flashes by usb and all the rest use loaders welcome to dss

I'm new to the whole loading of programs into my ViewSAT Extreme. I've read "dummy" guide for newbies and the associated threads but I just can't seem to overcome this issue where:

Even with the connected to the PC and STB turned off
1) When I execute the Loader2 - I'm getting "COM port open failed"
2) And, regardless of which COM port I choose, when I attempt to click the PC -> STB...The status on the ZMODEM window is: Error in Initializing...

This loader is for Viewsat. Coolsat and Pansat have their own loaders. which one do you have I will point you to it.

the viewsat require a null modem cable, but the pansat uses a regular
cable.
the diffence is the wiring on pins 2 to 3 and pins 3 to 2 on the null, then
2 to 2 and 3 to 3 on the regular cable.
make one measurement to determine which cable you have, if 2 to 2
is 0 ohms then you have the wrong cable.
rs-232 has a transmit and receive on pins 2 and 3, if the transmit wire
is not connected to the receive pin in the receiver then the computer
cannot communicate with the receiver.

next, check the com port if the transfer does not start when you power
up the receiver. the transmit pin is not being selected, you are defaulted
to com port 1. if the connector you have plugged into on the computer
is not com 1, then the is transmit signal is not going to the receiver.

transmit has 12v on the pin and the receive has about .6v on the pin,
if you measure a receiver, any receiver and find the same voltage
on pins 2 and computer serial port pin 3, then use a regular cable.

my laptop doesn't have an RS232 port(most laptops nowadays don't have one I guess) so I am using the ETHERNET port of the computer instead and used an RJ45-RS232 adaptor on the receiver side.... can you help me how to rearrange the wires in that adaptor(from which pin to which pin) in order to establish a correct interface.
And also, which port shall I use? in the loader program, it's until port 10 only.

Or can somebody help me what are my other options if what im doing won't really work.

1) my receiver is down and i'm trying to reboot it uploading dsstester-VS Ultra FAIL FIX
2) when I have the file in the loader I press PC** to STB
3) after pressing pc to stb I turn on the receiver
4) it stays without any transfer

I don't know if ALL Viewsat Receivers use the same "TYPE" of file or not, but the suffix for the Xtreme is *.pgm:yes: Look for a file of that type in the pro files forum.

Question: I can load bin file from pc to stb without problem, but when I try to upload file from stb to pc I got error message (err corrupted, or similar). My intention is to backup the channel files (just in case I mess up the channels when I play with the box).

Is this a loader's problem or procedure's problem?
Any help will be appreciated. (I was using loader 2.1, haven't tried load 2 though)

When I switch on the reciever, the channel comes up. Loader wil not let me load? what do i need to do ?

You need to turn receiver off. Initiate file upload THAN turn receiver on.

Where ever you put the file after you open it ,you have to keep the zmodem file in the same spot,like if you put the loader on your desktop,you must have the zmodem file on the desktop as well,then it will work fine for you!

I have this viewsat 2000 and is showing 4 ---- on the display, I tried to flash it with this file Factory_V0033_050521.PGM and all it does is to go into a loop even if i do it with the receiver off it does not make a difference, I'm using the serial cable (null modem ) I might be doing something wrong, please guys i need some help, by the way I;m using loader2
