I ran across this earlier today....
C&P
SYNDROME UPDATE
After releasing this card to the full public some unexpected things have come to our attention and we need to address them as best as possible.
1. Unfortunately it appears there are some compatibility issues with SYNDROME and certain ISO's. We thoroughly tested SYNDROME before releasing it to the public, but there's only so much we can look for simply due to the overwhelming number of manufacturers out there making programmers. The bottom line right now is that SYNDROME works with most quality ISO Programmers and not others. If you constantly receive the message "card not inserted correctly" and have tried different adapters as well as re-positioning the SYNDROME card, then chances are your ISO just isn't compatible. For this flaw, we sincerely apologize and are working on resolving it.
2. The flashing and modification process seems to be a little more complicated for customers than we initially thought. I have put together a list of commonly asked questions regarding using the SYNDROME software and am hoping this will help people along:
Syndrome Flashing:
Q. What CAM# do we enter? Does it have to be a valid subbed 101?
A. Any valid DishNetwork 101 CAM# will work. It does not matter whether it is a sub, ex-subbed or virgin.
Q. What do we enter as a zipcode, all I see are 10 underscores?
A. Simply leave it blank or use one that is near you .
Q. After entering my data, do I leave all 3 options checkmarked to write to?
A. Yes, you want to program all 3 areas of the SYNDROME card
IRD Modification:
First of all, make sure that the firmware you are attempting to modify is the latest. P243 for 301-010's and P304 for 501/508's. Also, don't copy and paste fields (boxkeys, IRD#, etc...) manually enter them carefully with CAPS locks on.
Q. Do I leave my original flash 1 "as is"?
A. Yes, simply read back your flash 2 file (either U23 or U7) enter it into the program, along with the .syp file you made earlier while flashing your SYNDROME board along with your IRD model selected and create your newly patched "output.bin" file. Open jKEYS, enter FLASH MODE, erase your FULL flash 2 a couple of times to be sure, then write the "output.bin" file you created to your full flash 2 location using jKEYS. You never need to touch Flash 1 unless you simply want to back it up.
Q. Do I need to create a virgin eeprom using FlashEdit?
A. If you're receiver has the latest DishNetwork firmware, then NO, simply do as stated above and there is no need to touch your eeprom.
General:
Q. Is SYNDROME wide open with all channels.
A. Yes currently it is a wide open 3M style selection of tiers. We will soon be allowing you to create your own tiers which will reduce the space required on the card.
Q. Why does mine freeze for about 10 seconds every 6-7 hours?
A. This is due to the tiers used on the SYNDROME card at this time. We are trying to give everybody all their channels and as a result, the card is simply full. This minor issue will be resolved with sofware updates very soon.
PS - 005 error update will be later to do sorry for the delay
