View Full Version : 3500s switching problem! Don't buy one!!!

My 3500s has problems switching between 119 and 110. If I'm on a channel using sat 119 and change channels to one using 110 I have to turn off the receiver by the remote and turn back on to get it to switch sats. Don't buy a Pansat 3500s until this problem is fixed, it's common on all these receivers. I'm switching to another brand!!!!!

It sound like Multi Switch problem, than receiver problem.

If you at lease can picked up signal from one satellite, that mean you receiver is working OK, because Satellite receiver only can receive one signal at a time.

For the receiver to pick up 2 or more satellites signal, you need a MULTI SWITCH, and not or the multi switch is comparable to any receiver, you have to read the useer menu to finder. In this case, the Disque 4x1 v1 should be good for Pansat receiver.

A $10 dollar switch or $250 receiver, your choice....

I'm using the dish500 system and all settings are correct. The 500 has the built-in switch which I'm sure your aware of and it works perfectly on dish receiver. I have the pansat 4x1 which came with the 3500s.

Dish500 with built-in switch will work with Dishnet receiver, if that is SW-21, however, this will give you problem with FTA receiver.

I am having the same problem too. I can not get both 119 and 110 together with the Disque 4x1 v2 switch that came with the receiver. I went out and purchased a Disque 2x1 v2 switch and it still didn't work. (I have read disque v2 switches might not be compatible with some FTAs but I couldn't find any version 1 on ebay). Anyway, without any switch, I can get either 110 or 119 at 99% signal quality. My currently solution (temporary) is to use dishnetwork's SW21 switch. Yes, you hear me right, this switch actually work for me. I can get channels from both birds....very slowly though....and many times the signal don't come in at the first time...I would have to go up and down channels to get signal. By the way, I have a Dish500 Legacy Dual LNBFs which shouldn't have an internal switch.

I know another guy who has the same problem. His solution is to run 2 wires into the house (110 & 119). Hook up 2 birds into a remote controlled a/b switch, and use that remote control to switch between birds.

If internal switch is SW21, then yes.

Have you read the 2nd link posted for you, try that, if you have to turn off you receiver for it to change the sat signal, more like it is SW21.

need to read this

DISH-LNB’S-IRD Set up

I will start posting different set ups in this thread

IMPORTANT.
1- Always turn off( at back panel switch or unplug it from power outlet) your IRD before you make any connection. DiseqC and 22 khz switches are sensitive to short outs and power surges.
2- Start connections from LNB’s to the receiver. LNB’s-switches-inline amplifiers if required( > 100 ft)-receiver.
3- Use appropriated connectors and tools. This will reduce voltage drops and signal attenuation
4- Fasten all connector with a wrench if possible.

We will use only one lnb output for these two options if you lnb is dual
Remember
a-single-one head and one output
b-dual- one head and two outputs
c-twin-two heads and 2 or 4 outputs
d-triple-three heads and 2 or 4 outputs

1- First Picture. Two DTV 18" Round Dish or another single dish w/ single or dual lnb(lnb must be circular polarization). One pointing 119 and one 110
Connect 119 to Sat 1 and 110 to Sat 2
Antenna set UP
ECHO 7(119)
Lnb type-standard
lo freq-11250
22khz-Off
diseqC-1
lnb power-ON (pansat X fixes doesnt required this)
Positioner-disable

ECHO6,8(110)
lnB type-Standard
lo freq-11250
22khz-OFF
diseqC-2
Lnb power-ON
Positioner disable

2- Picture. Four DTV 18" or similar single dish with circular polarization lnb for DN 110-119-61.5(or 148 West Coast) and BEV 91 . Connect 61,5 to SAT 3 and 91 to SAT 4.
ECHO 7-same as above
ECHO6,8-same as above

ECHO 3(61.5) or ECHO1,2(148). All the same but diseqC-#3

Nimiq 1(91). Same but diseqC-#4

You can choose only three sats and let one DiseqC input open. You can also pick four sats as you whick

DISH 500 Pro Set up

1- PICTURE 1 is the called DIsh 500 Pro black label. This WORKS with FTA receivers.

2- PICTURE 2. This Dish 500 DOESNT WORK W/ FTA receivers

3- PICTURE 3. It shows the two types of LNB’s. First one WONT WORK. Second WILL WORK.

4- PICTURE 4. Installation one Dish 500 Pro and one or two receivers. It will work with the following set up.
Go to antenna set up and right arrow on ECHO7 and ECHO 6,8, then OK and in
ECHO 7(119) set
lnb type-Standard
Loq freq- 11250
22khz-OFF
DiseqC-Tone A or #1
Lnb power(if apply)-ON
Positioner-Disable

in
ECHO 6,8(110) same as above but
DiseqC-Tone B or #2

Now you need to go to MENU and scroll down to TP/Edit and edit ECHO 7 and ECHO 6,8 Tps. You need to change all Horizontal polarity to Vertical due to the fact that Dish Pro uses stacked technology(bandstacking scheme the IF frequency of the horizontal block is shifted upwards to vertical) They will need to be edited for example( just go to Menu-Installaytion-Tp/edit and set all to V) then subtract all horiz. transps. frequencies from 25600. enter result as your new transp freq. (IE. on sat 119 transp 6 is 12297h. doing the subtraction, you get 13303. So change transp 6 to 13303). This is needed because dishpro LNB’s use an oscillator that runs at 25600mhz. this is mixed with the horizontal transp freqs and new freqs are generated.

Edited tps will be as follow.

1=12224,V,20000
2=13361,V,20000
3=12253,V,20000
4=13332,V,20000
5=12282,V,20000
6=13303,V,20000
7=12311,V,20000
8=13274,V,20000
9=12341,V,20000
10=13245,V,20000
11=12370,V,20000
12=13216,V,20000
13=12399,V,20000
14=13186,V,20000
15=12428,V,20000
16=13157,V,20000
17=12457,V,20000
18=13128,V,20000
19=12486,V,20000
20=13099,V,20000
21=12516,V,20000
22=13070,V,20000
23=12545,V,20000
24=13041,V,20000
25=12574,V,20000
26=13012,V,20000
27=12603,V,20000
28=12982,V,20000
29=12632,V,20000
30=12953,V,20000
31=12661,V,20000
32=12924,V,20000

Of course you do not need to edit a horizontal Tp if it doesnt exist in a sat.(I.E 119 has 21 tps only, so you must edit 12239(2), 12268(4), 12297(6), 12325(8), 12355(10), 12384(12), 12414(14), 12443(16), 12472(18), 12501(20)
This will work for DN 61.5-110-119-148 and BEV 82, 91 and any Dish Pro Lnb. You can use a Dish 500 Pro to get BEV 82(nimiq2) and 91(nimiq1)
After editing transponders you can scan your sats.

-It is easier just to load a DishPro channel list with gtool.

-You can open any channel list (no dish pro modified) with gtool, edit tps as shown above and then load new modified list.

FTA working switches

FTA receivers are Diseqc, 22khz and 12V switching complaints. Most of the FTA receivers manufactured for North America, do not have the 12volt switching option. 12v switching must be close to the receiver, so you will need to run two cable to inside the house.For example Fortec Lifetime 03-04 does it.

I prefer 22khz switching. They are more reliable.
DiseqC switches work as well, but it depend the manufacturer and internal parts. I will recommend
-TOKYPSAT
-JETCOM
-STarSat
-Perfect Vision
-OLD Pansat ( the ones with a weather proof plastic enclosure)
- Lastest PANSATs 4X1 I have bought work perfect

I wont recommend
-Spacelab
-New Pansat
-DMS. Some peeps have reported they work but i have a bad experiences.
these bad ones work better when they are close to the receivers.

I prefer switches as close as posible to your IRD and no longer than 75 feet. Eventhough manufacturers specify up to 100 ft.

Getting 8 Satellites on one FTA receiver

This is the wiring diagram for getting 8 Satellites in only one IRD.
Remember for Charlie and BEv downstream you will need circular polarity LNB’s, for KU band satellites G10, T5, AMCs , etc you will need linear polarity.

You can not use universal LNB’s because this set up will use 22khz tone for switching.

IRD antenna set up

SAT 1
Lnb type- Standard
Lo freq- 11250 for charlie and BEV or 10750 for the Ku band standard LNB’s.
22Khz-ON
DiseqC-#1
Lnb power-ON (if apply)
Positioner-Disable

SAT 2 same as above but

SAT 8
22KHZ-OFF
DiseqC-#4

One receiver 12 or 16 sats

For those receivers with 12V switching option

Up to 4 Receivers and 8 Satellites

You will need
1- 4 DTV 4X4 Multiswitch
2- Four 4X1 diseqC Switches.
3- LNB’s must be DUAL for switching polarities

Important. ANY MULTIRECEIVERS SETUP WILL REQUIRE DUAL LNB’s or LNBFs. PERIOD
Satellites frequency space is limited, so to get extra bandwidth polarization is used. The frequencies are transmitted in two opposite patterns, allowing a frequency to be used twice, but i wont interfere with each other. This will double the amount of channel downstream. A conventional satellite system, the selection of polarization is done by 2 different voltages, typically 13V(Odd tps) and 18V(Even Tps). A single LNB can only output one set of these frequencies at a time. For example if you connect two IRD to a single LNB using a splitter, it will work fine, until each IRDs select a transponder with different polarity, then the IRD selecting the EVEN transponders will output 18v, and overide the IRD selecting 13v ODD transponders. so this second IRD wont be able to see any Channels from ODD transponders, but if u change channel to an EVEN Tp you will see it.
A Dual has 2 separate elements inside pointing to the same SAT, it is like two LNB’s in one enclosure. Using a switch like DTV 4x4 or a 3X4 multiswitch, will direct one polarity(13V) to one side of the LNB and other(18V) to the other side. One side will get ODD tps and the other EVEN tps. So when different receivers select different polarities, they will never get the channels from the same side.

SET UP
Lnb type - Standard
lo freq- 11250 for BEV and DN, 10750 for KuBand T5. Globo, AMC, etc
LNB Power-ON (if apply0
12V-OFF ( if apply)

You must install switches as close as possible to the receivers. If you lose signal level due to the cable lenght, conexions and cascade, you may install a signal amplifier just before the IRDs

Am sure he means the switch
All dealers try to get the cheapest DiSEqC in the market and that's what you get since is coming out of their pocket and throw it in for free with the purchase of the receiver
