I am going to buy an FTA receiver and have narrowed my choices down to 2.........Pansat 2700 or Technosat 1010 plus. I would really like to get some input from people out there who are using either of those receivers as to how good and dependable they are. Or if someone would rather recommend another receiver, please let me know that also and why. Thanks!

Pansat 2700a is very popular and a lot of people seem to get good use of it. Technosat is basically a clone of the Digiwave. A lot of dealers don't have Digiwave anymore, so it's been replaced by Technosat. Technosat is a very basic receiver intended for newbies. I am sure you can make good use out of it, but I would recommend Pansat simply because it's so popular and easy to get help on the boards if you're stuck on something.

What is epg? And will Pansat work with a Dish 500 dish?

Electronic Program Guide. A display on the TV of a selection of programs available to the subscriber. The EPG may include other features such as information on programs or interactivity, including automatic tuning to selected programs or the ability to program a VCR

From my understand the Technosat1010 is manfactured by the same company as the Digiwave7000. So assuming this is all true is the flash for the digi compatible with the Technosat?
