Hi, I'm having a new problem with my Fortec lifetime Ultra, I'm receiving Scrambled or Bad Channel, it happened out of the blue, fortec was trying to do an Autoroll it got hung so I rebooted by turning the switch off in the back and then it started. After lots of reading I have done the following but still no luck.

- Loaded 274 and 276 Bin
- Loaded two different channel list DIDO and a modified version
- I noticed after loading 276 there were no transponders (wierd) so I did a power scan and after about 20mins all TP's were reloaded.
- Did Sat Scan for ALL channels and it found them so my dish point and cable is good.
- Signal Quality and Level is between 70% and 92%
- Checked and double checked my DiscQ switches which must be set right to achieve the above steps. Using Non DP LNB's switche #2 and #3

Any other suggestions welcomed...thanks

what type of lnb's do you have?
remember legasy lnb's will not work
extract from fta manual
"It is very important to emphasize that the SW-21, SW-44, and other Legacy switches are
100% incompatible with your FTA receiver. They cannot be used with the card or in
combination with a DiSEqC."

Here are a few tips if you are having difficulty flashing: pay close attention, especially the highlights...

I would advise everyone to read a set up guide before flashing. But, since people have been having some problems, I have revised this to provide more detailed information. But this is not intended to be a substitute.

1. Make sure you use the proper serial cable for your receiver:
Fortec and Pansat use a straight through cable with DB9 females on both ends.
The Blackbird and Pansat 2700 uses null (crossover) cable, which crosses over pins 2 and 3.

2, With the power turned OFF, connect it to your computer and receiver using the serial connector. Use serial port #! if you can.

3. If you do not have a working serial port, you must install one or use a computer that has one.

4. Use the appropriate loader.

5. Select the file. Make sure that it is the correct flash for your receiver.

6. Select the COM port your receiver is connected to. If you do not know, what it is try #1 first.

7. Enter the correct model name and number.

8. Check off the correct function box. Your choices are boot, flash or channel list. To FLASH your receiver you would use FLASH. Most flashes do not require a separate boot; so do not load both separately.

9. Turn ON the receiver power from the back switch.

10. As soon as you see the lights flash -- press download.

11. Wait until it completes and reboots.

after loading the new bin you need to check the keys and maybe do them manualy
i had to do them manualy after the flash and even then when i checked the keys i was off by one #
and thats after it did the autoroll

That is very common...the autorolls will often INCORRECTLY change the 1st 2 digits of the keys, causing the picture to FREEZE...this is corrected by manually inputting ONLY the 1st to digits after U notice picture FREEZE using an autoroll bin..

Scrambled channels on PPV is because those channels have now switched to nagra2, last week..and there is no fix, except subscribe..its been posted everywhere...a little reading goes along ways!...also be VERY careful not to HIJACK others threads..this thread was about scrambled channels, not loss of PPV's...but the relation is a far strech, but in the future I don't think the mods will allow this borderline hijacking..

Thanks to all for their suggestion however I've tried all suggestions and then some. I've now loaded ALTbar2.79 which is suppose to have the Nagra2 fix...my Fortec is an original not a clone, I also started from scratch by loading 2.72 first. Strange thing is I get the PPV preview channels, signal strength is high, most the radio stations come. I did a Power scan and it found all 24 tp's and brought back all the 110 channels and appended it to my DIDO channel list so I now have duplicates of the 110 channels and neither the DIDO channels or the newly scanned channels work...'Bad or Scrambled channel"....I also just loaded the latest keys manually... I've switched the ports on disqc switch from 2 & 3 to 1 & 4 for 110 and 119 respectively.

I'd have to say my hardward is ok otherwise i'd get no PPV previews, no TP's during a scan, no radio stations, no EPG info etc.

Any other suggestions

Thanks, are you saying 279 doesn't work because I'm reading it does on most 'REAL' fortec's. I'll give this file a shot...based on my description of the problem I would say the problem is software related rather than hardware.

the 279 bin no longer works. Download the latest Fortec bin from the downloads section..

Loaded 281 and dido smith latest channl list, I did a power scan and found al the TP's but I still get the srambled channel error. Also I loaded the latest Keys from 23rd....I'm reading that there maybe two set of keys one for Nagra1 and aonther for Nagra2?
