Allright, I got this off os someone else's posting on this web site.

Here is what I found for those trying to hack the parental lock code without erasing it. This info is a combination of forum posts so i am not taking the credit. This procedure will work with universal remotes.
1)Power on receiver
2) push the following buttons very quickly in order
Menu
6
3
Info (on my universal it's the mute key)
Right Arrow
Left arrow

This brings you to the memory dump screen. Scroll down using arrow keys to the NVM 01C0 line. You will find 4 numbers side by side like this 79 87
Ex: NVM 01C0 00C N2 JH 79 87 F0 01 F00
The code is backwards. Your lock code is 8779. Once you get to this screen you'll see what I mean. This way the code remains the same and the person who put it in will never know you got it. Let me know if it works for you.

I was ust wondering what else this screen can be used for. I could actually change some of the numbers when I was messing with it. I didn't want to mess anything up. Just curious.

Thanks,
Leo K3

Rumour has it that on a few very old receivers you can read the boxkeys from the screen dump ???? If your IRD has a JTAG port, you may want to build the "very simple JTAG" reader... that'll get ya the boxkeys and the TSOP dump. Cheers to ya!
