what exactly is the boxkey? where can i find it.i have a model 4000 ird,with rom2 card,but i'm confused on the location and importance of the"boxkey".
can this be found on the menu screen? its not the kill,its the thrill of the chase.

box keys are located in a eprom located on the main board of your ird you need a jtag to get them.eric :)

I think it would be easier to just dump the CAM. That's if the card you mentioned is married to that IRD. If your using a card that is married to the IRD having the boxkeys in not that important. However, it's always a good idea to have them just in case something happens to the card which would prevent you from testing that IRD again. I do not believe the 4000 has a JTAG port. Removing the TSOP and dumping it is another way if the card was not married to that IRD.
