I am familiar with dss programming. But, have pulled out an old dish system and started playing around with it. Can anybody tell me if all LNB's are compatible with dish systems. I have a sony dish/lnb and trying to use it with an echostar ird.

Yes it will work :) you can use the lnb for both dish and dtv..
