I had the same problem with my old Dell...built a new comp with upgrades and all is good. I thought it may have been the power supply was too small. Old was 125W new is 450W.....what type comp did you get? I have read that some compaqs and Dells wont work......

Says not entering program mode,

1. Make sure you connection for Atmega board is good.
2. COMM set up in Jeeper, selecting the correct LTP input/output range.
3. Selcting the right Freq for the atmega.

If still not working, like CHuck said try on different PC.

Sorry :( Good comps but not much good for doing atmegas. Maybe a powered atmega with the battery pack will work. Not sure as I never tried it.

What the hell comp did you have that ran on a 125watt power supply? a 386

As far as not working try the different comps approach first. I had an atmega that would not work on 3 different machines and it turned out to be defective! I hope this is not the case because it took two weeks for me to get it replaced

did you try plugging the atmega into the com port itself ? no cable ?

It was a Dell Dimension L series. Comp was maybe 4 years old. By the time I was done with it the only thing original was the power supply and the floppy.
I was amazed that the supply was that small myself. Trying to find a power supply for a dell with the two mother board connections is not an easy task so I opted to build my own....now I have exactly what I want.

I would bet if sreavesgil checked his power supply it would be rather small and the lpt port wont be getting the power it needs to run jeepers.
