This is a copy and paste, hope it helps you. The only thing I do different is I have to put "Lifetime Ultra", without quotes in step # 11 for mine to work. good luck>

Lifetime Ultra loading guide

software: http://forums.dsstester.com/vbb/att...tachmentid=4710

Password is 1010

Loading the boot file: (In menu check system setup => System Information. If Boot ver is 6, skip step 6 to 10)

1) Turn Ultra off from master switch -- in back of unit

2) Plug in a straight through 9-Pin RS232 serial cable, (NOT null modem)

3) Turn on unit w/ master switch

4) Power off w/ front panel power button - clock will be displayed

5) start AL7BAR Downloading Tool v1.31.exe (com1/115200)

6) In "model" box type: LTA

7) Browse for "boot_Lifetime Ultra_ver60_040515.bin" (boot file ver6)

8) Select "boot" (radio button)

9) press send

10) wait for complete message box! - IMPORTANT -

Now for the actual bin file:

11) leave all as is except change "model" box type to: Al7bar FTA Ultra

12) Browse for "Al7bar FTA Ultra_040823_244_api(NTSC).bin" (flash file)

13) Select "Appz" (radio button)

14) press send

15) wait for complete message box! IMPORTANT -

thats it!

After receiver had been flashed and if no picture:

1. Go to Nagravision and checks Key Code. If "FF FF" is shown, go set Set Default Key.
a) Menu > Channel Edit > Code(OK; Passwood type:1010) > Set Default Key

I went straight to fortec stars web site and downloaded the latest factory bin when I had that problem-
Firmware - v.2.50NTSC ( November 01, 2004) , of course it is going to tell you that you void your warranty if you download anything to your receiver.
