ok im a beginner at this stuff so i have a few questions.
1. When you are ready to start tranferring data one of the thing that the instructions i have say "power up IRD" so does that mean to plug it in so that the time is being displayed or does that mean that plug it in and turn it on to one of the channel?

2. In the Forecstar STB Updater v3.21 under STB model there are two Lifetime Ultra that i can select they both say the same thing so which one do i choose? They both say Lifetime Ultra but why are there two?

3. Im using the RS232 so do i leave the "serial port" on COM 1?

4. Also the instructions say "2- Connect a RS232C straight (2-2, 3-3, 5-5) female-female serial cable from you computer 9pin serial port to the receiver. IMPORTANT make sure is not a null cable (2-3, 3-2, 5-5)" can you just look at the cable and tell if it is (2-2, 3-3, 5-5) or (2-3, 3-2, 5-5) ?

1. It means to plug in the power of your reciever and make sure its on. Dont matter if its on a channel or its showing the time, as long as its on it will flash.

2.You can try either one in the stb model, if one dont work then it will say it doesnt work, if it does work then it will flash your reciever without a problem.

3. Yes leave the rs-232 on com1

4. Did this rs-232 come with your reciever when you bought your reciever, if it came with your reciever most likely it is the correct cable.
