in general dish forum there is a post about dishnet going to a new card
(the yellow card) since the cards on dishnet are really not the hardware that
does the decryption, how will this effect fta. I tested with dishnet for a long time untill they started blowing out eproms left and right and you had to buy a flasher to reflash every time they hit the unit. i could have spent more time in the living room by subing. anyway, it seemed that the card was not really an integral part of thier system security rather the reciever.(as thats what they destroyed with every ecm) if they switch cards can they switch to a decryption method that fta cant touch.it seems unlikely to me anyway
that they could do a swap that would turn over programming to the card
thus allowing them to use encryption like dave does. if anybody with a deeper understanding of fta recievers(pansat 2500 for example :D )
has any input on this it would be greatly appreciated cause if they can
pull this off ,my mom and dad are going to be real mad at me,I gave them pansat and told them "its easy to use trust me"

Thats what I have been saying all along. Atleast with a dish ird, you can just change the cards over and keep the same ird. FTA's will go in the trash and ppl will spend 500.00 more to get a new one 6 months after us dish testers are up and running on the new stream.

What makes you think you will be up and running in six months with a nagra 2.Six for dave and nobody up and running.

I don't know where you are pricing FTA receivers but I didn't pay $500 for mine. I have FTA, D**h, And D**e equipment and a toroidial dish so I just stay with the current fix. All I am out is $100 but it still gets FTA channels outside or D**h birds.

Please read the thread more carefully, I said that dish testers will be running on the new stream for 6 months before the fta guys come up with a new fta ird to decrypt the NagraII.

you got a good deal if you only payed 100.00, most payed 300-500 per FTA ird.

fta irds are like $150 new and when all is done you just reflash it back to reg fta and put it on the tv in your bathroom and start all over. I just wish they had a hack for HDTV fta irds or even voom
