As soon as I plug the RG6 cable into the "IF INPUT" on the Pansat 2500a, Patsat shuts off and you cannot get power until you unplug that cable. The funny thing is the RG6 cable isn't plugged into anything and I still get the problem.. It's like the Pansat doesn't like the cable I am plugging in to it.. I tried plugging in another RG6 cable but get the same problem.. Any ideas? ?? HELP!!! Thanks!!

I'VE HAD a couple of similar problems with my pansat. the first is a sudden loss of signal from both meters. when it first did this, i changed LNB's and it started working again. then, when another one blew out a day later, i got suspicious and unplugged the box a few minutes. when i plugged back in it was fine. my "expert" thinks the receiver might have been overheating. the other one is a lockup of the remote. that is fixed by manually turning the box off then back on. have you tried powering the box off while you hook up the RG-6 and then turning it back on?

Yep, I turned off the switch in the back, and unplugged it.. Then replugged the coax into the "IF INPUT", plugged it in, and switched it on.. Only thing I got was the bars scrolling across the screen, then the display on the receiver went off.. [I even unplugged the other end of the coax, the end that's going into my Diseqc...]...

It strange, because when I unplug the coax and reboot it again, it turns on normally.. I just can't plug the coax into the "IF INPUT" or it shuts off.. Is this strange or has anyone heard of that...???

Thanks for your responses!!

Try running a new piece of coax from the LNB to the receiver. It sounds like you have developed a short in your coax and this is why the receiver is powering off.

I just put up my T-55 today, went to power up the Pansat, and ran in to this nag.. I am not sure if I have a defective receiver or not.. I will try to connect just a piece of coax without it running to the outside.. If that doesn't work, then I guess I got a bum unit.. Thanks to you all for your responses.. Any other responses are also much appreciated...

Peace out..

OK, what type of coax is everyone using to wire your system???

When I plug up a short RG-6 cable in the IF INPUT line Pansat shuts off... But when I plug a short RG-6U it stays on? My whole system is wired with RG-6... Should I rewire? Is there a good cable type recommended???

Thanks!!

Had the same thing when I first hooked up, before plugging cable in, check your settings on the installation for the correct lnb type, and diseqc switch settings before connecting, if somethings amiss, it won't let your ird boot-up. I exchanged cables and corrected settings which were wrong, don't know which fixed it that time, but when I hooked up first cable, it went back to black screen, so I think the cable was kinked, and the settings for dish setup must be correct also.

RG-6 works fine for me.
If you can get another piece of RG-6 and try it.
I think like knarf said sounds like a short in the cable.

The Pansat is a sensitive unit!! jeez!!
