thanx in advance  yes you do have to flash frist, And you do need to re-point the dish the same direction as dave will not work, they are differnt freqeuncys ... if you can get ahold of a signal meter,(satt. finder) then you will be watching TV.
sealizard182 08-04-2004, 06:11 PM thanx maddog,

no; it won't; after you flash, the 110 is about 9 degrees turn to the right and down about 4 degrees from dave on the east coast. the 119 is another nine degrees to the right and down about six more degrees from the 110. the 119 is pretty low, so if you have obstructions near the spot where you're setting the dish, you might not pick it up. that's the story at one of my homes.
sealizard182 08-05-2004, 10:18 AM i was just wondering if any one lived in the west palm beach fl area , i just want to see if my pansat2500a ird is bad, i am going home today and try one more thing , i have 100 feet coax cable i was going to do what every one els says set the ird next to the dish and set it up that way with a shorter line and see if it works that way i know that i cant have my dish were it is and i will have to move some were else, and if that doesnt work thats why i wanted to know if i could find someone close to me were i can just hook mine up to see if it even works.
thanx in advance
grazzzy 08-05-2004, 11:01 AM don't forget to flash the receiver before you do anything else.

thanx in advanceand, no one said this, but the flash is not the one from pansat, its a hacked flash. dont have it on me, but you can find it here....the hacked flash, or you will get great meter readings , but no picture
sealizard182 08-05-2004, 03:04 PM ok you say to flash it, i flashed and when i go into system information on the ird it has x-8500
API:2.28c_E
BOOTver : 6.0
04.29.2004
im not sure if it flashed as boot file as fare i can tell when i flashed it i didnt load as boot file , i have flashed loaders b4 for p3 loaders
here is the file format i used
bin file : E:\DSS\Loader\X-8500_2500A_10_05_04.bin
now below that file type is ghosted and the radio button for ( flash rom file) is checked marked
yes...thats the flash.....you succeeded...i myself, used a dishnet receiver to fine tune the 110/119 sats locations and then i hooked up my Pansat......im using a dtv eliptical dish to get the 110/119 birds and another dish 18" to get the sat at 61.5
you only need to scan the sats you want to view, which in my case is three...if you ever decide to put a small motor to start moving your dish, your Pansat will hold up to 60 different sats locations in its memory and 3000 channels
hope this helps!

grazzzy 08-05-2004, 09:21 PM can anyone give a link where we can learn to flash the receivers. i'm starting to feel guilty over watching all this t.v. and not being able to help my friends out. also, is there any danger of ruining a receiver by incorrect flashing? thanks!!!

There's not much to it really, for the Pansat you can go to their web site and download the flash utility. You then just open the .bin file and click on download and about 30 sec later your IRD is flashed. You can also use a program called Gtools to upload and download channel list.
I just used Gtools last nite to add all the AC3 (dolby digital) data to my channel list, I am using a dish pro LNB and could not find a list that had it for the DP500 so I added them manually and it works great. Remember if you are using A dish pro LNB you will need a modified channel list.

What reciver are you using ? and yes you can harm a reciver if you stop the flash before it ends doing its job !!

i've got the silver bullet, which is already operational. i'm interested in that pansat 2500a to recommend to others, though.
