My PCI card is installed and working properly.

Running .. XP Pro SP1 .. 512M Ram .. VGA card w/64M ... DirectX 9.

Dish sat .. stationary (no motor)

Installed ProgDVB just fine .. added necessary files (which actually was hard to determine which ones, since I have read so many different instructions, some say use "these" files and then other instructions say use "these" files.
Problem is: was going along just fine this last time and just as I clicked "scan satellite" .. received error message "ProgDVB has encountered a problem and will close, blah, blah, etc."

I have installed and uninstalled ProgDVB three times. This is the program I want to use. Last time it made my computer run soooo slow that between a click on something to when it actually happened could be almost one 1/2 minutes before it would happen. Not sure what happened that time.

What I need is someone that has the VP1020a running with ProgDVB to help me please. Thanks

Do you have any other dvb software running (like MyTheatre or the one that comes with VP)?
If you do, uninstall all of it. You only need the drivers from the VP cd.

These are the 3 files you need, make sure they are in the main folder.

Some say to use Nagrakeys.txt or Nagra.key, but i only use the 3 mentioned above, and it works.

Some hardware issues to think about:
Sat signal (are you getting 100% quality?)
VP card over heating?

OK, I will remove all the other files and use just the ones you say you are using.

When I was using 4.38 and my computer was running slow .. I even scanned the satellite and was getting anywhere from 80 to 98 per cent.

Are you saying when the computer was running slow that it could have been caused by the PCI card overheating? Do I need more fans in my computer? I have four separate ones now.

You mentioned that I just barely met the video card .. Later on, after I get this running good in my computer, I was planning on running a cord to the tv. What should I get for my video card? I seen in requirements that I only needed 8M and I thought my 64M would be enough.

Ok, got 4.39.6 installed and was able to go thru the part of scanning the transponders. I have a list of channels on the left side. Now I guess I am stuck. The next part of the instructions talk about setting it up for recording. Right now I would just like to be able to just watch tv.


Can someone tell me how to do this? I have a PPV hilighted, but nothing is happening.

Koala, you should go on ebay and get a 128 MB nvidia GeForce 4 mx 440 with T.V out. Or a 128 MB Radeon 9200 with T.V out. Both cards are very good and will run you about $60. When it comes to Video cards only use radeon or nvidia. I prefer Nvidia because they have the most stable drivers.

Didn't realize that a 128M would make a difference, but that is what I will do tomorrow.

128mb is fine, that is what i am using. You didn't mention your cpu speed.
The link i gave you above, click on the requirements and see what the
minimum requirements are for progdvb.

You only need a fan if your card is overheating. A symptom of that is signal strength going down. If your getting 80-98, then don't worry about the fan.

The next step:
I'm assuming you went to Settings\DiSEqc and selected your sat using circular LOF 11250.
I'm also assuming you went to Channel List\Channel search
After about 10 minutes, you should get a list of channels.
You should see the channels on the left, if you don't, click view\Channel list
Green V means it is free to air / Red V means the signal is scrambled.
Double click on one of the green V channels, if it works (sound\video) then your ok.
Once you get the Green V channels working, then copy the 3 files in the progdvb main folder
and try the Red V channels.

Kola, If the process is video intensive then having a slow graphics card can slow the system down. How fast is your cpu, and do you have a sound card?

Ok ... I made the correction "circular"

I have some of the green V's coming in ... not all .... the preview channel for PPV, things like that. No actual tv shows came in.

the "other files" are in the main directory .. but I can not still get any of the red V's to come in.

If you can get the Green V to work (Audio+Video), then your good to go.
All you need now are the current files to decrypt DN.
You didn't mention whether your trying to unscramble Charlie or Bev.
So, I'm assuming it's DN.
If you can't get the Red V's to work, then i can send you the current keys.

I guess I thought I had the current files in my directory, but apparently I don't. I would appreciate any help that someone would give me.

Got the files and replaced the ones in the directory. Now I have no idea what is going on. I clicked my shortcut link, and the program will not even load now. I have three places to click to open the program and none of them would open the program. My hourglass appeared, but then went away.

I did notice one thing when I was replacing the files ... Yankse.ini was being used ????? and it would not be replaced. So I deleted the file and then put the new one in.

Any ideas???

I must have been mistaken about the Yankse.ini file because now it is the Yankse.dll that says it is in use and won't let me delete it or replace it.

The channels I am getting are:

ON PPV .. 103 and 500

I'm not getting any other green V's

try these setting and you'll get them....

I had circular checked, because they said if I only had one LNB to check it .. in order to get all your numbers in, I had to check KUband.

yes i'm scaning prog now i don't use it and i have 90 channels in 7 trans with my setting s...red v's

Installation went well ... scanning tp's etc. ... got to the part of settings in Device Options ... when I click on it, it will not open. So if it won't open I can't set anything.

I did check the channels, still getting D500 and PPV preview, but still no red V's coming in.

settings\diseqc\sat position and diseqc settings....that is the path to go..then after you get you sat's set go to channel list\channel seacrh and click echo7 or 8 and scan that way... not scan transponder and you will get them....

I've already done that part .... the next step was go to Device Options and when I click it .. nothing happens, can't get there to make the last few settings.

well i don't where you got that from i have never went to the device options for anything to get it to go...what other settings do you need?

According to the quick installation guide I have been using .... the next step was to go into Device Options..
set the correct video format ..
Mode..S-video out, no RGB out..
Standart: NTSC..
Enable remote control..
Enable OSD..
things like that.

I got a remote control with my VP1020a, but when I turn the power on for it, it brings up VisionDTV, I also sometime need to get that corrected somehow.

But my biggest and most important thing right now is to get the red V's up and running.

try removing visiondtv and as far as the remote goes you'll have to get a plugin to get your remote to work with prog....what is your setup with your dishs?

I have a Dish500 with no motor and it was originally setup with the orig. receiver to get DN.... not sure what other info you need

you need to remove the switch in the dish 500 and replace it with a diseqc switch that is what the problem is..guess i should have asked at the first the dvb won't scan though it

In the LNB settings during installation .. I unchecked the Power because I have no power to the satellite.

There is so much about this stuff that I don't understand. I even read somewhere in the directions about "110 is even & 119 is odd .. so if you receive even and odd channels, you are receiving both satellites". And I really figured I would have to put up another satellite so I would be able to receive 119 and I thought I was receiving 110 right now, but I have even and odd channels both. Can you tell I am confused?????

1-ok does your dish have 2 lnbs on it?

2-you need the power on

3- switch should be up in the mount for the lnbs if it is a dish 500

4- where did you get your card most every card comes with a diseqc switch

5- there are odd and even on both(110-119)

ok are you using it for a dishn ird now or in the past?.....and are you aimed at 119w? and if it has only one lnb on it you need to get another dish to get both birds a old dtv dish will work and i'll email you as where to get a switch...if you tryed echo7(119w) with where your dish is now and didn't get red v's try echo 6,8 (110) and seee what you get...let me know!

Never re-subscribed, just installed the dish outside. Used the old receiver to find the satellite. Was going to try to do something with the card, but never got around to it.

Also at one time had a DTV dish outside just below it and did use it for H emulation and HU programming, but when the HUcard went down, I started looking for another alternative. Read about the PCI cards and thought I would try that.

According to what I chose for setup (Echostar 5,8) and me being the dummie I am, I couldn't tell you if I am on 110 or 119. I just know I have a lot of channels, very very few green and a whole lot of red V's.

you have red v's now!!!!....great!!!! echostar 8 is 110...echostar 7 119 your not a dummie your learning!!!!...are you seeing tv now?

I only can see about two-three green V's .... that's it.

you won't get any thing on a dtv sat not a dvb signal...set up your dishnetwork ird and find 110 and 119 with each dish i'll only be on for another hour & a half i have to leave for work at 3.30...so if i don't here from you then i'll be on in the morning......

As soon as I figure out what sat I am on now ... then I will set the DTV sat up and get the other one. Don't think I will get that done tonight, suppose to storm around here and I'm still working. But I will PM you when I get the sat's all set up.

Let me ask you a question ghitch75 .....

Right now I have one sat set up and receiving 110 .... I can see some of the green but none of the red ...on station D500 it says that I have Dish500, but my sat is a single lnb ... instead of setting up another sat at this time, shouldn't I be concerned about why I can't view any of the red's. Shouldn't I figure out first why I can't get the red's instead of setting up another sat. Apparently the program is not unscrambling the stations or I could view them. Once I can view them, then I can put up another sat for 119 and at that point I would be viewing them.. right?

Maybe I have something in my program directory that is conflicting .. would it help if I gave you a list of my files?

I still need to know why I can't open Device Options in the program itself.

ok you say your on 110 are you using echostar 5,8 in sat and diseqc settings?....and did you check none for the diseqc?...this will let you scan 110 and yes give me what files are in PROG
