There are two ways to test. With the stream and with the card. With FTA both are possible. Buy your equipment from a regular FTA satelite dealer. Its legal.
As regards your letter, people test because Dave and Charlie are charging for nothing. In europe they buy thier sat receiver. It comes with the regular channels free. You only pay for premium channels with subscription cards directly from the premium channel companies. No middleman but the sat dealer.
The recievers let you switch premiums by changing cards or cams. Your in control and its affordable.
