anyone know why or how to risolve the issue of getting "stoped on failure" when trying to flash my loader?

once again a do apreciate the reply.

you don't seem to be getting direct hardware access through your OS. you may need admin privileges. if you can't get that, put the hex.exe on a disk with command com. boot to this disk and flash the loader.

the files in that zip are executable as long as you have a command interpreter.

Unless you have that chip dont bother, the thing I found out also was that my com port cable took a sh!t, and I got that same info, is it USB or com.

Its COM, as for administration rights, not a problem but i see where that was good observation as that makes total since but not in my scenario as i have full rights. Also a valid point about haveing that particular atmel, which I do not. ODD thing is it use to work.... hmmm hehe thanks for the help guys, Im off to DOS. :D

I have the extreme USB and get cannot open dynamic driver, sort of dumbass about dos, I guess I can get it to boot to dos but how will it see my USB ports, another of the same program(xpflasher) was telling me the com port could not be found??? I'm on 4... any ideas?

Instructions:

1. Connect one end of the provided USB cable to your programmer.

2. Connect the other end to any available USB port on your computer.

3. You should now see a pop-up window with the heading "Updating hardware information database".
If this window does not pop up, please go "My Computer" > "Control Panel" > "Add new hardware"

4. After scanning, you will see New Hardware Found: "USB Device" "Windows has found new hardware and in locating the software for it."

5. The window will change to "Add New Hardware Wizard " In the top portion of the window it should show "USB Device".
In the options area, select the second option "Search the location of the driver" and click NEXT.

6. The next window will show the location of the files. By default, the directory C:\unzipped\your loader\ will be selected. If you extracted the zipped files to this location, click NEXT. If you extracted the zipped files to another location, click Browse and locate the folder where you extracted the files. Then click NEXT.

7. The next window will indicate that the file "Your loader Com Port" has been located. Click NEXT.

8. The driver will now be installed and you will see a new window that says "Windows has finished installing the new hardware device.

9. Your loader DRIVER virtually creates the USB port to COM 3 or COM 4 (COM 3 on most computers). You must now open the Extreme HU program, click FILE > SETTINGS and under the Loading Settings section, select either COM 3 or COM 4. Then click SAVE AND EXIT.

10. At the bottom of the main Extreme HU window you should see COM3 (or COM4): READY and Device: Detected. You are now ready to use your new USB programm

Thanks Mas, but I'm trying to reflash a loader that I already have installed , I believe it's the xp flasher program that is giving me grief....

Ok i know for a fact it isnt my power supply or serial cable, as I'm useing them with my new ISO loader. Still getting errors on my HU programmer. Says it cant find an active atmel, (same results without the HU programmer hooked up).
None of the software I try is detecting the HU programer. Does this narrow me down to a messed up atmel?
